Ovaries with several cysts

(26 yearold female, started menstruating age 10) Hi, I went to the gyno last week and during the transvaginal ultrasound she found several cysts (one ovary has 4, the other she just said "many"). My gyno says I dont have PCOS, which is fair enough. My cycles are regular and I dont have male pattern hair growth or anything. I had my blood work done, and my sex hormones are alright except my estrogen is ovulation high, which Im assuming is because of the cysts. So, my questions are. Am I actually ovulating? Am I releasing eggs or have all my eggs for months been tucked away in cysts? She basically said the best way out was going on the pill, which seems counterintuitive to me, because Id be adding on more estrogen. Also, breast cancer runs in my family, which is why Ive been avoiding the pill. My thyroid is fine, so theres no connection there. Could I balance my hormones by lowering my weight and could that be the cause of the hormonal imbalance which caused these cysts to appear in the first place? Could stress be causing my cysts?

Thanks in advance for your answer!

i had the same problem!!! and breast cancer runs in my family too... i had to avoid the pill because of the hormones... for other reasons ... ever since i have been on the mirena i have had no problems with ovarian cysts! ask your doctors about this. not sure if it is related but its worth asking because i know they are sooo painful.

well mirena there is only a tiny tiny tiny amount of progesterone. and you wont get your period. so if you dont get your period you may not get your headaches if they are around your period cycle.
yeah changing diet losing weight definitely could help... im trying to do the same just so hard. haha. yeah adding hormones is never a good idea putting anything in your body never really is in my opinion. but im not a doctor. i tried the copper 7 IUD. AWFUL! made my periods heavy cysts worse and cramping to the point where i was in bed and didnt want to move. i thought my head was going to fall off. worse experience. but then again you may have a different experience.... but copper iud is known to make periods heavier ....

Thanks! I was considering an IUD, but hormones make me feel ill so it would have to be the copper T. I havent had children yet, so its not the most recomended thing. I dont like the idea of it tearing at something, so for the time being Im going to go herbal, change my diet, lose some weight, take care of my liver which filters out hormones, stop drinking coffee etc. There are a lot of miracle cures for the reasonable price of 29.99 or something, but I doubt they have anything very different from the other natural advice which is freely available. I just dont see how adding more hormones is a good idea. With the pill, I have read that its good for prevention, but that once you have the cysts, it doesnt really help.
