Just one more thing, make sure you take a copy of the ultrasound report with you to your next appointment.  You probably already have a copy but if you don't you should be able to get one for free from the radiology department where you had your ultrasound done.

Take care and keep in touch!

I know there are several different types of cysts.  There are simple cysts which are a normal part of ovulation, they develop to release the egg and then normally disappear.  The other type I am familiar with is a complex cysts, one that does not go away after ovulation and is typically filled with fluid or debri.  I don't really know much about the other types.  As for the doctor telling you they don't cause pain, if your cysts are anything other than a simple cysts, yes they can cause pain even if they are small.  I don't know if you have had a transvaginal ultrasound but your gyne should be able to determine what type of cysts they are from the ultrasound.  I do hope you gyne is able to offer you a better indicication of what is going on.  Sounds like you are on the right track.

PID is mainly caused by STDs such as chlamidia but mines wasnt and they dont know the cause of it. PID is like an infection in the pelvic area and when you have had it once you can get it again.
but when i was told i had PCOS it was because i had a lot of cysts on both ovaries but the doc said it doesnt cause pain, but im like you, if you press on my abdomen each side it hurts. thats why im confused.
i havent a clue what type of cysts i have or size i just know i have a lot. my other syptoms, part from fluid in the pelvic area, is it sometimes burns when i pee and i have a "discomfort" down below that makes me want to put pressure on it,.
i am having a consultation with my GYN hopefully before xmas and will talk about it all then im just wanting to see if anyone is having similar things to me.
i dont get pain in my back but i feel sick cause of the tablets im on, i do have some symptoms of just ovarian cysts, but not really much of PID.

I'll be honest with you I don't know anything about pelvic inflamatory disease, what the symptoms are or even what causes it.  What type of cysts do you have?  Do you know how big they are?  Mine is only 2 cm but I am definitely aware it is there, especially if someone presses on my right ovary.  Ouch!  Do you have any other symptoms?  I am always tired and feel pain in my back and lower back.  Just generally feel sick all the time.

I don't have the reports in front of me, but I don't recall it mentioning how much there was just that is was present.  My gyne never mentioned that it was a point of concern.  I do have a complex cysts that does give me some pain on a daily basis.  I see the gyne on Nov. 26 and I will probably opt for laprascopic surgery.  As time passes I just physically feel worse and worse and wonder all the time if the cyst is causing me to feel so poorly.

Was it a small amount or moderate or large? If you have a cyst that ruptured it can leak fluid but usually it will be reabsorbed by your body. You should not have it all of the time. A small about can be normal though from what I have read. Did you have a ruptured cyst?

I just read this post.  I don't mean to jump in, but his really caught my attention.  I have had two TVUS and both times it said there was fluid in the cul-de-sac.  Do you have any clue what that means.  It is related to the first post so maybe your answer can help both of us.

Thank you so much!

How long does it take for the fluid to be reabsorbed usually?

Hi there,
Usually when a cyst ruptures, there will be fluid in the cul-de-sac that will show up on transvaginal ultrasound. This can take a little while to reabsorb. have you been told you have an ovarian cyst?
