Ovary Removal

Hey Guys! This is my first time using this Medical Community and I have kind of a strange question. I am only 32, but have had repeated bouts with ovarian cysts which, over the past 10 years have required several laproscopic surgeries. At any rate, about two weeks ago, I started experiencing severe pain in the area of my right ovary AGAIN. The strange part is/was, that my  OB/GYN could not find any cysts or abnormal results on my CTs or ultrasounds. Due to the pain, he decided to do surgery two days ago and remove my right ovary. He told me he suspected that it had become twisted in some way and was causing my pain. He also said that he was going to secure my left ovary to my uterus to avoid the same thing happening on the other side. This is the odd thing; before surgery, he told me I would have four incisions, I only have three-one on my left side, one in my belly button, and one on my pelvic line. Additionally, my right side, while not in pain, still feels really strange. To top it all off, no one spoke to me after my surgery before I was released to explain what was actually done. Do you guys think it is possible he decided to leave my right ovary? Maybe I am just paranoid, but it seems weird that most of my pain is now on the left and their is no sign of incision on my right side. I tried calling his office, but no one has returned my calls yet. This OB/GYN is renowned in our community, and I can't imagine that he wouldn't inform me if he hadn't done what he had planned. The whole situation has me a little spooked.

Thanks. I didn't know I could ask the hospital for any notes. I will call tomorrow. I do have a scheduled appointment next week, but I was just anxious about what I actually had done and need a little reassurance because how can an ovary and fallopian tube that aren't there feel weird or heavy. Again, thanks.

That is unusual. Those are the same 3 incisions I had when my LEFT ovary was removed last year. Definitely follow up with your doctor to find out how the surgery went and what all was done. Typically the doctor has you come in for an appointment a couple weeks after the surgery any way.

If you need to, ask the hospital for a copy of your surgical notes. I did that for all my heart procedures. They gave them to me with no questions asked.
