Recurrent Ovarian Cysts

Hi, I just have a concern and hoping someone else may have experienced this or knows someone who has, to be able to give me some advice or suggestions.  In August 2012 I had a big ovarian cyst on my right ovary, but the pain came from my left ovary, which the doc said that happens frequently; sometimes a pt. may have pain in the opposite side.  Anywho, I had surgery that same month and they removed the cyst only.  Since then I kept having pain in the left side, with recurrent cyst and severe pain, so to make a long story short, March 2014 was yet another cyst, but this time on the left ovary, so they removed the cyst AND my left ovary as well, being that I have excruciating pain on that side and they seem to reoccur more often on the left.  Well I had the surgery on 3/14/2014, and immediately after I noticed a sever pain on my right side and relayed this to the doctor, they indicated they didn't understand why I would be having pain on the right since everything they removed was on the left., and kinda just blew it off.  Well I went to get my incision checked last week, and the pain in the lower right quadrant has gotten progressively worse, once again I told the physician about the right side pain and they just figured it was from the surgery two weeks ago still healing, though I thought it was something different.

So this brings me to this, I go to the ER today because the pain is so bad, I can barely walk, after a CT scan they found two big cysts on my right ovary!, which explains the pain I have been having immediately after surgery up until now.  This is devastating to me, I just had a laparotomy/oophorectomy literally two weeks ago, and now I have double the cyst on the right one, I am wondering why the physician couldn't see this when I was open?  Does anyone have any experience with this or ideas/suggestions, I guess im just looking to ease my mind.  Any help is appreciated..

Thank you, It seems like we have some similarities in that department, I will talk to my doctor about those vitamins you suggested.  However, my cycles are crazy! They just come whenever, I haven't had a set schedule in over an year.  Most recently, I had one that started on Jan 3 and didn't end until Feb 26. But thank you for your time and suggestions, I will certainly do that.  Take care!

Hi I've also had a reoccurring painful cyst on my right side for years. By carefully monitoring my cycle (with a period app on my phone) I determined that the pain typically occurred after my cycle ended (around ovulation). You should start tracking when you experience the pain. I've done a lot of research online trying to find recommendations and figure out what to do to get rid of the pain and I think I found out what works best for me with specific vitamins and also diet..baked goods can trigger pain of an ovarian cyst. Same for dried fruits. The vitamins I've been taking have worked wonders! I'm currently at the point of having some very mild discomfort to none at all. The cyst is still reoccurring as I can feel it but not to the painful extent that it was. Here's a list of vitamins you should try: Primrose Oil (500 mg/1 a day); Dong Quai (530 mg/2 per day); Vitamin C with Protective Bioflavonoids and Wild Rose Hips (1000 mg\1 per day); Vitamin E with Mixed Tocopherols (400IU\1per day). With these I also take a daily multi-vitamin. I pretty much use all generic brands too. Check with your doctor if you're not sure or do a search online for each one. These may not prevent the cyst from reoccurring but it did relieve me of a lot of the pain I was experiencing for sure. Best wishes.
