Removal of Ovary due to chronic painful cysts

I'm 29 years old and for the past 4 years I've been in constant pain on my right side. After about a year of digging the cause was cysts on my right ovary. Alas I was put on birth control pills which did help for a while. I stopped taking the birth control about 8 months ago (it stopped working). My menstrual cycle was normal. 7 days of heavy bleeding and cramps. The last two months have been horrible. I first noticed my period was different. In Septemeber I had it for 2 days and this month it lasted 5 hours. The pain was so bad I went to the ER again and was told that I had fluid near my uterus and a 5cm cyst next to a 2.3cm cyst on my right ovary. In March of 07 I had a tubal ligation and basically my question is has anyone found relief by having their ovary removed due to a similiar situation. I'm just so sick of being in pain. I figure that if the ovary isn't there anymore than the pain won't be. Even as I type this I'm doubled over. Any insight would be great. Thank you to all.

I too suffer from right ovarian cyst. It hurts so bad. I have been dealing with them off and on for years. I have seem MANY different doctors, been to the ER over 10 times for the horrible pain. 7 out of 10 times they found ovarian cysts. I am scheduled to have surgury to remove my ovary in about a week. I am very nervous. So you are not alone :) Stay strong.
