Should I Be Worried

After an ultrasound of the pelvic (internal and external) I found out about a week ago that I have a 4.2 x 1.8 x 1.5 complex right adnexal cystic structure on my right ovary with no free fluid in the cul-de-sac.  I had a partial hysterectomy about 18 years ago because of endometreosis and heavy periods. All they left were my ovaries. I am 54 years old and am post menopausal.  My maternal grandma had ovarian cancer and my maternal aunt had breast cancer with one or both removed. I do not have a lot of the symtoms such as bloated stomach, lots of pain.  I do have fatigue, nauseau, very minimal pain on the right side and lots of pain during intercourse.

I am waiting for the results of my CA-125 blood test.  Do I need to be worried?  Are my chances high for ovarian cancer? Should I get a second opinion?

I have been reading up on this and am so confused.  Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

And remember, even in postmenopausal women, the majority of cysts are still benign :)

I hope to bring you some hope as I'm facing a situation similar to yours. I have three complex cysts on my ovaries and my ca 125 was elevated at 92. My gyno truly thinks it is endometriosis with endometriomas (cysts). However I have to see an oncologist now because of the ca 125. If you had endo before and they left your ovaries, estrogen can still feed any endometriosis that was left from surgery. From what I've read, it is very likely some can be left because it can be microscopic and hidden and very easily missed. I wish I could take my own advice but if your ca 125 comes back elevated, please don't panic: endo raises the test. I have a suspicion that this may be your case but since you have a family history I would suggest you maybe should see an oncologist. Although I panic at the thought I have to do it, at least I know I'm in good hands. And from what I've read, no free fluid is a really good thing. Prayers are with you, please keep us posted.
