Symptoms of burst cyst?

Hi again,  just wondering if someone can tell me what the symptoms of a burst cyst are?  Yesterday I had the most horrendous day, I have had back and stomach pain now for over a month, in the past couple of weeks constantly, but yesterday the pain was so much worse.  It didn't matter what I took, nothing worked and I just writhed around on the bed, couldn't sleep either and usually the codeine makes me sleep.  I was very close to going to the ED but it is a fair way away and I just kept hoping that the pain would ease.  Most of the pain was in the lower back.  Then when the pain became really intense (I was crying), suddenly I started bleeding and then slowly the pain began to ease.  This was after hours and hours. I eventually got to sleep about 2am and slept until 6am.  I am now not sure if this was just the start of a period or something else.  The pain was not like period pain, not cramping but constant.  Has anyone else had something like this happen?  The pain this morning has been quite manageable compared to yesterday, and I have no sign of period pain with bleeding (still going on) which is strange because I usually have bad pain the first day or so.

If the pain gets really bad where it is constant sharp severe pain, I would certainly suggest trying to talk to your doctors office about getting on the cancellation list.  As for other ideas, I would suggest trying to get your head lower than your legs if possible while sleeping, it takes the pressure off of the ovaries, but you do have to be sleeping on your back. I would also suggest using the heating pad on low or using a heating blanket to have constant heat on it through out the night but on low. This won't help during the day though and may cause more aching.  If you have any more questions, you can post a new question to the community. I hope that all goes well!

I know this thread is pretty old, and I haven't really gone through any other threads yet, but I have cysts on both ovaries. I have irregular periods. Very irregular. I can go months at a time without one. Well, I get the symptoms, but I don't bleed. I have only been in immense pain one other time, but that subsided after my period was done for that month. This time, it is worse. I can barely walk, I'm hunched over, and my doctor believes that they are causing my headaches. I can't get comfortable. Pain meds don't work. Heating pad only works when it's on, and I can't leave it on that long. When I turn it off, the pain returns. I haven't had stomach pains, nor bleeding.
What I am wanting to know is, what did any of you do, to get comfortable, at least enough to sleep, when medicine doesn't work??? I see my doctor on the 30th, but I am in so much pain that I just don't think I can just "deal with it" or "try to ignore it"..I am in tears.
Please, if any of you have any suggestions, let me know. I am desperate..

After I had my last baby in Sept, 08, he was born by a plan C-section and I was going to get my tubes tide. (Tubligation) After that, a few weeks later I found out that I had cysts on my ovaries. It was Thanksgiving, and I was going to get ready to loose my Medical Card. After having Joshua, my periods were never the same. I would bleed for about 14 days, and then stop for one or two weeks, then start right back up. Then went on for about a year or so. But then I went to the State's Free clinic Health Rite, (That's how they spell it ) and takes them FOR EVER  to do any thing (still does) I was refferred to an ob/gyn clinic at the woman's and children's hospital. Then last December 9 2010, I had a partial hystorectomy, because my uterus was coming out. Then there were cysts on both ovaries, and then the dr still just decided to say that there was no cysts and decided not to remove them. But I do understand that I was 28 at the time, and if it wasn't necessary, they didn't want to. But after having that, my bladder is coming out. (when I had my first baby, He was a still born, and was op (face up) and I think that's what messed my bladder up. But after all my check ups after the surgery, I was still hurting, and the dr said, that may be let my insides still heal, and then come back for a check up, and we'll go from there. So I went back, and I was still hurting and then they decided to do a trans/vaginal ultra sound. This was in June of 2011, then I went back to the clinic, and they said the cyst that was on my left ovary, was a complex. and the dr was wanting to repeat the ultra sound, and this was in September of 2011. Then I go back to the woman's and children's clinic, and the dr acts like she doesn't know what she's doing, and she says it's just a simple cyst!!! but the report is saying it's complex, and this time, it's double in size too. so what do i have to do? they have me repeat it again. and this time they say there's shadows where the cysts are, and they probably will repeat the stupid thing again. My mother in law used to work at the women's and children's clinic so she told me that the cyst on my left ovary, was about the size of my fist, but recently it almost trippled in size all together since June. But the thing is, they aren't doing anything about it. I've been hurting a little bit more today, and I'm rather frustrated too. I would like to know what are the signs before the cysts burst, I hope it doesn't because I don't know what I will do, I'm alone at home with my 3 and 4 year old. My husband started his schooling for his Cna classes and my mother in law and father in law work. Although we live right next door to them. But I'm just rather frustrated right now, and If any one could help or give me ideas what do, please let me know. :)

The symptoms of a burst cyst are-
intense pain in pelvic region where ovaries are located,
a fever, you might feel lightheaded.
Ibuprofen only dulls the pain,
you'll feel weak.
constipation, hard to release gas.

I have the same problem....had one burst 3 times in the last year. Last night was the worst one yet...pain is so intense, wanted to go to the ER, but getting there would of added to the pain.  Each time they burst it makes my sciatica act up, can hardly move for a month or more. Doctors are no help, I am starting to get really depressed...helps to know I am not the only one....but wish Dr's would offer some help.

I had a cyst burst on my ovary...You will know if it burst.
Earlier in the day I had pain...I thought maybe gas pain! Maybe that is all it is I thought! So my boyfriend at the time (Now Husband) FINALLY had to take me in after I stepped out of the shower.  I felt a pop inside me and I started to double over and couldnt breath ...X-rays found nothing,  finally internal vaginal ulta sound found my belly fillin with blood! It must have been forever before I thought someone would find where my pain was coming from. If I had waited any longer to figuare it out I could have bleed to death.

I have been diagnosed with a cyst on my right ovary.  The pain in my right side has been so severe I want to double over and the pain radiates to my lower/middle of back.  The pain comes and goes in my side now with a few twinges now and then.  I am wondering if I could have a ruptured cyst.  What should I look for.  I no longer have periods and have not experienced any bleeding.  But for 5 days the pain was so intense I couldn't sleep.

Hi, I've been having pain on my left side for over two months now and the doctors can't seem to find anything without me having to go to a specialist ie. (gynocologist) The pains started out really bad and I ended up going to the hospital where they gave me pain medication and then basically sent me home, The ultra-sound showed nothing! I got my period 2 days later it lasted 2 days, my shortest period ever. My mother is a herbal practitioner and nurse, she thought it might me Endrometriosis and she recommended that I take **** Quai and Oil of Primrose. I have to say that since I started taking them the pain has reduced, but I have noticed that if I don't get enough night sleep that the pain is alot worse, I say NIGHT sleep because I often read all night long and then sleep all day.  So try the herbs they might help, Start taking one pill each a day but no more then two until you get used to the herb.

When my cyst burst it felt like I was going into labor. My stomach hurt sooo bad and it went to my back and sometimes shot up to my breasts.  The pain lasted a couple days and never really died down.

I've never had one burst (as far as I know), but it makes sense b/c of your symptoms.  However, I would be cautious and make sure you don't get a fever as this would indicate infection.  Good luck - the pain stinks!  Lilly
