hello all well what a mad few weeks ive just had, i had my scan on the 21st of april after that i was in so much pain that i went to the doctor's, i was then told i had a bladder infection. but the pain did not get any better by the following wednesday i was in so much pain i went off to A&E.
where i was kept in my cyst had twisted i had over half a litre round my kidneys i was so worries!!!!!!!! i was left in hosptal for 3 more day on just pain killers when on the 1st of may i had my op,  they started laprascopically but then found it was to big to come out that way so then had to cut me as well i had 2 cysts one was over 10cm and a dermoid and the other was also a dermoid but only 3cm both on my right side i was told i had one on each side before the op but when the op was done she said they was on the same side.
i was in for another 2 day then home.
Ive been resting BUT now just 2 weeks in ive seen a small hole and its now been leaking ive just been told i have a infection ive now got to wait to phone in the morning  coz no one will be there today only its sunday, ( so in the NHS u cant be ill on a sunday...) the pain has come back ive been told i can go to A&E but i will have a 6-7 hour wait ggggrrrrr now im worried about having to go back in hosptal!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry that you are going through this.  If you do start to run a fever, go to the A&E (which I'm assuming is like the ER in the USA) because an infection is probably likely.  Last time I had surgery, my incision opened about the size of a pencil eraser, and my doctor said that as long as no greenish/yellowish pus was coming out and I didn't have a fever then things were fine.  It is normal to leak fluids (clear to reddish orange).  Is the incision really red or does it have fever in it (hot to touch)?  If so, you may want to get it looked at tomorrow.  Please let us know what comes about.

Hi jensoso, sorry to here about you in pain again. MY last op last yeat was a lapraoptomy too and again now, im only a week post op and alls ok at the mo. But last time i did get an infection and was put on some antibiotics and it cleared in days. I think the more you mess with these wounds the more chance of infection, best leave them wash dry well and leave. My consultant i had this time said to expect leaking from blood clotting under the surface(dont know) but i have had a swellen under the surface very black and he said that its just blood clotting and may cause a leak. I do hope your pain subsides and yes isnt it hard on the nhs on sundays, as said above if it's bad call an ambulance at least your get seen straight away . Take care x

Hi

I am so sorry you are having to go through this. Do go to a/e if you start getting a temperature as they will have to call a consultant out if they need him, you will not have to wait 6-7 hours to be seen if you are realy ill. Next hing to do would be to phone an ambulance as you get seen straight away, only do this if youve got a temperature and the pain is realy bad.
Just a quick question as i am early on and just waiting for an ultrasound to see if i do have a cyst, what were your symptoms before your scan?

I do hope you get better soon

Thank you

Gem

Hi there, I'm also in the UK, and I understand about Sundays and the NHS!
Has a doctor looked at the small hole? Because I have the same thing, and when I looked it up on the web, it said that redness, some swelling and oozing of tissue fluid can happen when a wound is healing, and can last for 4-5 weeks after the cut.

One of my incisions is still not healed, in fact, today it started bleeeding again and is red around the edges with flattish bumps of redness around it - but it is slowly closing up and I'm taking it to mean that it was the deepest incision and therefore taking the longest to heal.

If you haven't had a fever, felt sick or anything else maybe it's not an infection...but then, what do I know - maybe I've had an infection all along, too!LOL  let me know what the Dr says, and well done for resting!
