bulky ovaries with complex cyst

have been having severe pain on my right side that goes into my back,I also always feel like i have morning sickness.  I went to my ob/gyn and he sent me for ct because they thought i had apendixcitis.  It turns out that they found a cyst in my right ovary with free fluid.  My ob/gyn then sent me for an ultra sound.

this is what it says...
ovaries appear bulky, right measures 5.4 c, in length and left 3.9 cm in length.  there is a 1.5 cm simple cyst in left ovary and a ill-defined 1.5 complex cyst on right ovary.  free fluid has interval resolved. recommended follow up to further assess.

can anyone please tell me what this all means...i continue to have very bad pain and I'm so bloated i literally look like I'm 3 months pregnant!
thank you

Even small cysts can cause a lot of pain and bloating among other symptoms.  Don't let your doctor monitor these for more than 3 months.  If they haven't resolved then they likely won't and should be removed.  Over 95% of all cysts are benign.  Do take a look at the health pages (top right) for lots more info on cysts.  Do ask your doctor for something for the pain and/or anxiety if you need it.  I was in awful pain with mine and really needed the help.  Good luck with everything and please keep us posted.

Your cysts seem to be rather small.  Did the doctor offer any other information regarding the results of the ultrasound?  You should really talk to your doctor either by phone or schedule an appointment right away so that you can rest easier.  Cysts are usually nothing to worry about, but they can cause an enormous amount of pain.  Are your periods regular?  Your doctor will probably just want to watch them for a few weeks to see if they grow or shrink.  If they continue to grow, they might prescribe birth control and that would help regulate your period if it is irregular.  It's a good thing they're still small, but even if they were big, like I said, they're nothing to worry about most of the time.  Don't stress too  much over it; we actually make things worse when we overthink them.  You will feel better after you speak with your doctor.  I don't know what they mean by "bulky"; they're probably bulky because of the cyst on top of them.  The simple cyst is just fluid filled (normal, functional cyst) and the complex cyst means that it has other solid components in it (not just fluid) that might just be blood.  Even complex cysts are nothing to worry about most of the time, but should still be monitored to see if it is growing.  If you have unbearable pain and/or get a fever, go straight to the ER; better safe than sorry.  Good luck.
