Ovarian Cyst--How long does this last?

I am a 25 year-old woman.  In February, I went off of birth control pills for the first time in 6 years. In March, I went to the e.r. for extremely abdominal pain on my lower right side.  A CT scan revealed that I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and another intact cyst.  I had been experiencing nausea, weight gain, cramping, and mood changes since stopping the pills.  After my e.r visit, I had an appointment with my doctor. She told me that the ruptured cyst would dissolve on its own and I needed to come back 3 months later for an ultrasound.

Since that time, I have gone through 2 complete cycles of birth control pills, have had very light periods, spotting, occasional pain during intercourse (almost like something inside is getting hit), cramping after sex, and continued weight gain despite adjustments of diet and exercise.  My ultrasound is next month.

How long will this go on? Will I keep gaining weight? Will the weight come off if the cyst dissolves?

I got the results of my ultrasound. I have an enlarged right ovary, no evidence of a cyst, and cervical "problems." The lady I spoke to did not know what cervical problems because she was not my doctor. They want me to have another ultrasound in three months and go to the e.r. if my pain becomes unbearable.  I'm freaked out and don't want to wait 3 months to know what is going on.

Awesome let me know the results when you get them. Make sure you ask for a copy from your doctor and hold on to it.

Yes I would bring it up and PCOS... I would demand an ultrasound that is just me though.

Endometriosis and PCOS can cause infertility but not always. I had stage IV endo and I conceived. Everyone is different.

You might not have either but just a regular functioning cysts that burst and sometimes that takes long to heal. I would track everything now just in case.

They did not say what type of cyst it was.

As far as the endometriosis, I do have pelvic pain, but no bad menstrual cramps or urinary problems.

My periods have never been particularly painful.  Cramping the day before and periodically during my period. There has been no change in this since I can remember.

My first menstruation ever was when I was almost 14 years old.

Should I ask about endometriosis when I go to the doctor for my ultrasound next month? Should I wait til then to go to the doctor or make an appointment sooner?  I haven't felt normal since a month or 2 before the one cyst ruptured, and I'd really like to get back to feeling normal.

If I did have endometriosis, would that mean I'm infertile?

It really depends. Did they say what type of cyst the intact one was?

This sounds like it could possibly be Endometriosis.

Try researching that disease and let me know if any of that sounds the same with what you are going through.

You can also read some of my journals as well.

I have some questions too.

Have you ever had painful periods?

When was your first menstruation?

You hurt during sex, that is an indicator of Endo as well.

If it is Endo you would need a laparoscopic surgery to confirm. There are no tests that will confirm that unfortunately and if you have been on the pill and all of these symptoms came on it is also an indicator of the disease.

Endometriosis makes you feel all those symptoms as well as bloating and feeling like you are pregnant.
