ovarian cystectomy

Hi everyone, I was admitted to A&E last Monday and had emergancy laproscopic surgary and removed an 8 cm cystic mass from my fallopian tube, unfortunatly they couldnt save the tube and took that also. I was discarged from hospital on Saturday. I was wondering if anyone has had the same prosedure and how long is recovery time. I feel really well at the moment but have started to have the same pains in my side as i did before the surgery, is this normal?
Thanks for any advice x

I think for my peace of mind, I'd give the Dr. a call.. just to touch bases. I'm sorry the pain seems worse.. Wild thought: you're not 'favoring" one side and pulling muscles on the other side are you?  I know that sounds ridiculous, but that's happened to so many people (not just with surgery)... one has a pain, and walks or moves in such a way that it pulls or hurts somewhere else... Just a wild thought..

Hope you feel better,
Sandy

HI,
You know I had an ovary and tube removed in January and for a few weeks I had the same pain (not bad pain.. just sort of niggling). It finally went away. It was almost like a "phantom pain" that one has after a limb has been removed.  It will go I'm sure..

Hi there.  Sorry you needed emergency surgery.  Did they take your ovary, too, or just the cyst and your fallopian tube?  Either way, you've just had major surgery.  You will be sore for a while.  Laparoscopic surgery will enable your body to recover a little faster but it's just smaller holes, as my surgeon told me.  Be careful not to lift anything over 10 lbs for a while and get rest.  Your body will probably tell you when you're overdoing things but don't wait for that signal.  Get rest every day if you can.  Did your doctor give you a list of do's and don't's?  You'll probably need to take it easy at least until your post op appointment.

Take care!
