I'm sorry to hear you're having such a frustrating time dealing with this and the colon cancer. I will keep you in my thoughts, I really hope they do cover your surgery for the colon cancer. Cant imagine not being covered for the surgery just because the insurance company can decide its pre existing... is there any way you can work with the dr to try to prove its not pre existing?

That appt. got canceled because my insurance has decided that my colon cancer might be preexising so now I have to wait to see if they will cover my surgery for the colon cancer. If they don't cover it I have no other options.  I called the county hospital to see if I could have the surgery on the ability to pay program they no because I have insurance but also they said I can't have the surgery there because of the possible preexising condition.

I'm sorry to hear about the colon cancer.

You sound like a very strong woman, with a good head on your shoulders to question whether or not removing both ovaries is a good idea. That is a huge thing to have to go through on top of battling colon cancer. I wonder if it is possible to maybe speak to someone at the hospital or your family doctor to see if there are more doctors? I wonder if even searching online if possible to see if there is a list of doctors in your area that might be able to take you that are associated with the hospital?( I know there is a website like ratemd.com or soemthing like that where people go and rate doctors in their area, i wonder if that would help?)

As Kimmery said I wonder if that is why they are suggesting to remove your ovaries and tubes, but there is so much to factor in. I'm not a doctor, so I dont understand why they would want to remove both, if there is only a cyst in the left.

Also, like Kimery my cysts were simple fluid filled cysts. My doctor talked about possible removal of ovary prior to surgery just in case so i was prepared, and in the end, we did have to remove my right ovary due to the cyst destroying the structure of it.

hi linnyblue,

i'm so sorry to hear that you have colon cancer.

perhaps it is because of the cancer that they are suggesting to remove your ovaries and tubes? i am not a doctor, so i will not understand what they are proposing, however if you have cancer perhaps it is the best route?

i wish you good health and happiness.

I agree, you need a second opinion. Unless there is a serious risk to you the doctor's should be doing everything they can to preserve your ovaries and tubes. good luck

I hope you're able to get a second opinion ASAP. I dont see why they want to take both ovaries. I could see why they want to remove the one ovary with the cyst depending on size, condition of ovary, etc. Some cysts dont always cause pain, many women never know they have cysts as its common for ovulating etc. I'm glad to hear you dont have any real discomfort with the cyst, how big is it? My cysts were smaller than many of the women here, but they still caused a whole lot of pain! Good luck dealing with everything :)
