post op question after 3 week of cystectomy

Hi everyone,

I had cystectomy on 2/2/10 to remove a 10cm complex cyst/tumor in my left ovary. the incision is healing well, i felt more pain on my right rather than left.

after 2 1/2 weeks of the surgery, i had a minor infection and the incision area was really itchy for about one week; 3 1/2 weeks later, i started to sleep on the sides and i felt this bouncing feeling on my left ovary, like i have a ball inside. right now i feel tightness on my left...... i am wondering if anyone had the same problem before. please help.. is it okay to sleep on the sides after 3 weeks? im worried the sleeping position caused complications to my healing process.

thanks for listening...

Pain killers will make you not go poop! It's the worst...but I drink tea in it, so that helps!! I love it. I hope you are healing properly. I can't beleive  ur do. said average healing time was 6 weeks. I wish they told me that at first. They said 1-3 weeks. ya right!!! I was expecting to be totally good by now!

I know this sounds a little far out...but imagine blue healing light from God or whoever you beleive in coming into your tummy and healing it. I have been doing this and I think it's working!! Best of luk!

Hi there, just giving you an update on my post op appointment today: doc said we won't feel 100% ourselves back for maybe 6 months.. she only said it's normal when i explained the bouncing feeling and everything seem fine.. it's almost five weeks after surgery, she said i can go back to work any time i want, but the avg is 6 week after surgery.....

my sleeping improved a lot this week, i have two pillows on my side, so when i feel sore on my back, i would roll to the side with the pillow supporting my waist..

about pain killer.. honestly i stop taking pain killer after maybe 8-10 days already.. every doc i've talked to so far kept telling me that i should take pain killer.. but i didn't feel much pain unless i did some movement.. and it bugged me when i did take the pain killer, my bowel movement would become "uncomfortable"...........

good luck

I recently had lap. surgery to remove my dermoid complex cyst and I have the same feeling when I sleep. Sometimes it's hard to always be on your back and you need to adjust. I am hoping I don't have complications either as I was fine for a week and then all of a sudden I am haiving severe shooting pains where my ovary used to be and severe back pain. Ibuprofen seems to help, but it's very frusterating.

You can sleep whatever way you want.  That is not a concern.  You will get a lot of weird feelings as it heals.  I felt a lot better at 4 weeks but still took another month to feel like myself.  Just keep getting rest.  If you overdo it you will go backwards.
