symptoms not due to cyst says unhelpful doc

I have a 5cm x 5cm x 4cm cyst and have been having symptoms such as stomach problems and a feeling of pressure in the cervix area.
Saw the gynae today and he says any symptoms I am having are not due to the cyst because the cyst is too small!
Oh well I must be imagining it then! I could understand the stomach trouble being caused by stress but not the feeling in my cervix and period type pains.
Unfortunately doctor did not want to answer my questions and told me not to go on the internet, I should just wait for him to sort it all out. He doesn't understand how hard the waiting thing is! I told him about my mother dying of vaginal cancer and started crying but he didn't show the slightest bit of sympathy.
He suggested I wait for 3 months and have another scan (as cyst looks benign) or I could have it removed and I opted for surgery - lapatoromy. Hopefully doctor's surgical skills will be better than his social skills!
Only trouble is I am going in on the 20th of December so Xmas is pretty much ruined, oh and then I have to wait 10 days for results.
Has anyone else had a laparotomy?

you know, in 2007 i was diagnosed with a SMALL cyst from a male doctor who said no bid deal. i had belly bloating and spotting for 3 months, it got to the point i couldnt wear anything on my abdomen and was in constant pain all the time, i had pregnancy symptoms on top of severe cramping and stabbing pains on my right side. i remember driving one time and almost had to pull over it was so intense, so well to be blunt i hooked up with a guy friend of mine and had sex so i could rupture it, i couldnt take it anymore, and well it worked and it was insanely painful, i was on the ground crying and screaming when it ruptured, charlie horse cramps in my abdomen.  i understand your pain after what i went through, i will NEVER see a male doctor again after that for female stuff. men in my opinion dont belong in gynecology. least women are more sensitive to womens needs.  that was  A SMALL CYST! wow what if i was a huge one?! i hope you feel better!

That is one uncompassionate doctor you have there. At that size the cyst could cause a whole array of symptoms. But of course he' s a man and men don't get ovarian cysts. I am surprised he chose this as his occupation. Hopefully he is an excellent surgeon. Best wishes on your surgery. Read my story in my profile. It will help you understand what to expect.
