Is this PTSD

Hi!

I am wondering if the symptoms I am having are related to PTSD.  I have been severely emotionally, psychologically and verbally abused by my family of origin, doctors, employers, friends, neighbours, strangers and others and have suffered from anxiety/panic attacks, chronic insomnia, muscle tension, adrenaline surges, spaced out feelings, lack of concentration, avoidance behaviours and thoughts of suicide.  The insomnia is so bad I get about 3 hours sleep a week and sometimes less than that.  I also suffer from hypothyroidism and adrenal exhaustion probably due to the extreme stress I have been under all my life.  I have been in therapy most of my life, became addicted to prescription meds at an early age and for 26 years, so am unable to take anything to help with the horrendous symptoms I am having.  Most doctors are unwilling to help in any way and I am completely alone.  My N.D. today prescribed a medication called Prazosin in hopes of helping with the insomnia, adrenaline surges etc. which are keeping awake.  Has anyone had success with this medication for just anxiety and panic or PTSD.  I will be going at some point to see a psychologist to be tested to see if I actually do have PTSD.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I take a small dose of Prazosin and a larger dose of an antidepressant. Together they have helped the PTSD to lessen especially my nightmares. I am also in therapy.

Before the medicines, I got about 4 hours of fitful sleep at a time.

My PTSD started when I was 3 years old, 57 years ago!
