Newly diagnosed after almost 30 years

Doctor thinks I may have PTSD, after many years of sexual child abuse, memories are coming back. I do not remember anything from my childhood until I was in my teens, away from my abuser. It is hard. I m scared. I have been ill with physical findings and with lots of question marks for several years now. Had to stop my career. Could PTSD do all this? Rash, enlarged spleen and liver, low blood counts, severe pain treated with narcotics? My council meeting will not be for another six months! What to do- living in Ontario, mum of two and happily married for now :(

You say your doctor thinks you have PTSD...but you need a good diagnosis with a mental health pro who can give you a more concrete answer.

I have many articles in my journal section of my profile that deal with PTSD and there are many symptoms that do cross over to other mental health issues, but PTSD has many of its own symptoms that point directly to PTSD...

You do say that you are scared, and I am assuming that you mean you are scared to go deeper into your feelings and re- feel them again, but you do feel them all the time, and then stuff the feelings where they play havoc with your body and your health...

I would love to see that you have hooked up with a therapist or a group that deals with PTSD, a problem shared with other sufferers is in many cases the best way to start the recovery process ....

Wishing you the very best
