Ancle Pain

I august 2009 I was running a 300m hurdels run and when I was jumping over one of the hurdle I fall and landed on my heel, the doctor I went to after the fall said I overstretch my thigh muscle and that I was sprain on my feet. A month after the fall the thigh had healed perfectly but I had some bad heel pain that prevented me from training because of the pain. I went to the doctor that took x-rays of it and nothing showed so he injected me with anti-inflammatory steroids, which did not help. after that did not show any improvements I had 2 MRI's taken of it and nether of then showed anything abnormal. now 9 months later Im still feeling this pain in my heel and the last 1 month it has been worse and worse.
When I walk with my food relaxed I get a very hurtfull sting in the back of my heel (4cm from the ground and 3cm from the back of my heel)
Its hard to describe how I landed but I could draw a picture of it and send if it helps.

Oh Palmarg, I'm so very sorry for your injury to  your heel. AS Sara said I'd als like to welcome you to the Pain management Forum and I hope that you are able to get some helpful suggestions from us here.

Since you have already had your x-rays and MRI's 9 months ago and your pain is even worse if it might be a good idea to consider having them done again as things can definitely change especially since you've been walking on it for an additional 9 mo. You might even consider contacting a different Dr. if yours isn't willing to check it again.

I just had a thought, and I'm not a Dr. so I don't even know if this would show up on an X-ray or MRI, but could it be a REALLY deep bone bruise?

I'm so sorry that this happened to you while you were training!! Please stay in contact with us and keep us updated on what you find out....Sherry

Hi Palmarg:  I am sorry about your pain.  I'd like to welcome you to our forum of chronic pain patients.  Unfortunately, we're not doctors but patients.

If the doctors are unable to find a cause for your pain, you may want to find a pain management physician.  Personally, I have no idea what the cause of your pain would be.  Perhaps one of our smarter members will be along soon and able to shed more light on your problem.  But do keep checking back.  I'm sure one of our members will be along shortly.

Sara
