I just had my second procedure yesterday. My entire spine is painful, but the Thoracic spine had become intolerable. No amount of narcotics helped, and I am titration down, not up.
The first one was horribly painful. I had IV fentanyl which they kept increasing - but nothing helped. It still hadn't completely healed when I went for the 2nd one. I asked him to forget the fentanyl and just try to increase the local. Much better!! It's very painful still, but I am very hopeful that it will give me some real relief!
I recently reduced my morphine Sulphate from 120mg to 60, and stopped all oxycodone. I plan to go off in the next 2 months a little slower - that big drop was rough! I'm wondering if I'll ever feel "normal" after so many years on high dose narcotics. A few years ago, I was up to 300mg a day. That was just going nowhere. At this point tolerance works against me, so they just don't help anymore.
My MS has changed to a progressive form and I have a lot more pain in my legs. I think my only option is to get it out of my system. I'm just wondering how long it will take to get past the withdrawal effects. Sad when pain takes over your life!
So nerve ablation, and getting off long tern narcotics are the 2 things I would love comments on. Thanks. Hope most of you are doing alright!
