Banning Vicodin, Percocet, etc......??

ADELPHI, Md. - Government experts say prescription drugs like Vicodin and Percocet that combine a popular painkiller with stronger narcotics should be eliminated because of their role in deadly overdoses.

A Food and Drug Administration panel on Tuesday voted 20-17 that prescription drugs that combine acetaminophen with other painkilling ingredients should be pulled off the market.

The FDA has assembled a group of experts to vote on ways to reduce liver damage associated with acetaminophen, one of the most widely used drugs in the U.S.

If anything they will just make them reduce the amount of Tylenol in Vicodin and Percocet or take it out completely and prescribe the pain pill and add a second pill like tylenol in a smaller strength.......I don't see either one of those meds going off the market completely especially since Vicodin is the most prescribed painkiller in this country.....The drs where I work are not worried about it at all

I have rsd in both my hands...I take percocet on a daily basis, along with other meds to help my  life be more tolerable. I am not addicted to it. But I depend on percocet to reduce my pain. I hope  no one thinks I am addicted..I am not. I don't understand why this nonsense is being done to cp sufferers. Those who use the drugs for a legit reason should not be made to suffer for those who abuse them. I've heard they are thinking of doing the same with avinza, which I alse take. Where will I be left. Sorry, advil and plain tylenol just don't do it for rsd pain....Tresa

I have been following this and my own personal opinion is they will never do this. There is too much money made on these drugs.

I personally don't like the Acetominophen/Other drugs. Just prescribe say, Oxycodone and have them use Tylenol as needed if it must be used.
