The ones I have heard have the fewest side effects are Methadone and Suboxone, but there also the ones that have terrible withdrawls. But may people say that methadone works better than anything they've tried so are willing to take the trade off.
I have also heard so little negative about Opana ER like TrayCee mentioned. Everyone I've talked to who takes it has said it has really worked nicely for them.
But like mentioned above, everyone reacts differently to meds.
With pain meds, even the ones with fewer side effects there is always a draw back or two, so to me its a trade off. If something can help me live with a better quality of life than I'll put up with a few more side effects.
TMA
I take Suboxene and can actually say for once in my life I havent had but very minor pain and only here and there,,with 0 side effects. Sub also last in the body for a real long time due to the long half life and the withdrawal is lesser than the majority opiates out there (proved by studies and by testimonials) you also have your few who hate it and have had horrible withdrawals. Talk to your doc about the array of drugs that are on the market and see what his opinion may be. Sub is partial opioid agonist meaning its not a full opiate like Methadone and oxy. Good luck and hope you found what you were searching for.
I recently started taking Opana ER, works great and has very few side effects
Hi tuckamre is correct, every drug works differently on everyone. I have had more success with oxycontin than any other medication I have been on over the years. I was on the same dose for about 6-7 years and just a few months ago increased it. It may work for you too but there are also many other meds that would work for you too. How is the oxycodone treating your pain? !5mg @4 a day is a pretty strong dose, did you start out on this dose? 60mg a day is not bad but you could see if your DR would switch it to long acting and take a 20mg two or three times a day and it would last longer for you.
I don't know if there is one specific drug. A lot depends on how the drug effects you. I have heard methodone has little side effects but getting off it can be a horror story on it's own. There will be more experienced ppl on the forum that can better answer your question. I too am working with my CPC to find a long lasting pain med that "works" for me without side effects. Fentanyl patch has been OK but I haven't been successful at increasing it enough to be as effective as it should be due to the headach and ear noises it gives me. So everyone is different. A community leader will probably be with you soon. Best of luck in your seach. Tuck
