Biofreeze

Has anyone tried biofreeze?  This is an over the counter gel geared for sore muscles and aches.  Someone at church has a similar injury as me and swears by this gel.  This gel also has really good reviews on amazon.com too.  I hope this helps with the muscle spasms I have since I can not take a muscle relaxer.  It will get it through the mail on Wednsday next week.  Anyone here use this?

Dontundertand, I don't have abdominal adhesions, but the NP and the surgeon figure I have adhesions in my hand.  The Voltaren gel is supposed to help small joint areas but who knows, it may help other things, like abdominal pain.  I'm using the other compounding gel I have now in conjunction with the lidocaine patch.  The lidocaine doesn't work alone for me much but with the gel it helps a bit.

RunningMom, my Voltaren was paid for by my worker's comp so I didn't have to pay anything, and I also got some samples from the surgeon and from an NP friend of mine who originally suggested it.  If I had to pay for it, it would cost me $200 a tube and I couldn't afford that.  Maybe you could ask them about a compounding gel.  I find it a bit better than the Voltaren.  They compound it specifically for you with different topical medications.  It's a shame you can't use any muscle relaxers.  I know by BF thinks they help a lot.  His old doctor never prescribed them, and when he switched to my primary, she ordered them right away.  He takes one every night at bedtime, and it helps a lot, especially with the spasms.  He used to have a lot and it's cut them back considerably.  Good luck with the Biofreeze.  I'll be anxious to hear how it works.

dontunderstand, I bought this off amazon.com.  I don't know if it is a fair price or not.  I bought a small bottle vs the larger bottle.

I do have the voltaren gel.  It does seem to have some working effect on my shoulders only.  It's an antiflammitory and it is very expensive.  The pain clinic gave me 4 tubes of it to try.  I'm just about out of it now and my insurance will not cover it.

I get horrible muscle spasms in my shoulders from my neck.  I do not have any muscle relaxers to take.  The ones I've tried do not agree with my body.  I hope this gel does provide some relief.  Any relief is good. :)

Like you said, sometimes it's very confusing to remember who has what. Do you have abdominal adhesions? Does that cream work for that? My sharpest pain they think is from scar tissue... wouldn't mind trying something else that might help. I've tried the lidocain patches but found they didn't really help...

I get so confused here with who has what (sometimes I don't remember my own issues!)  I've never tried it, but I have tried Voltaren gel, a prescription, which I thought did make a difference.  It is very expensive.  I also get a compounding gel from a special pharmacy (not a chain).  They combine a bunch of things like lidocaine, ketamine and I don't know what else.  That actually works pretty well.  Any chance you could try either of those?

My mother inlaw uses it and she said it works ok for her. I have tried to use it not on my face but other aches and pains but it didn't work very well. Some people it work for and others it don't. My friend used it on her back and it worked great.

I use Bio Freeze all the time and I think that it helps, I have used it for three years and I think that it has got me through some spots that I couldn't normally have got through for minor aches and pains.

I know a lot of people who love it and who use it a lot. You should wear gloves when applying it, because you can't get it in your eyes. Either wear gloves, or wash your hands well after applying. I have used it, and I think it's okay.

Yes I have used it. However it was not effect for me. I hope others will have better reviews than I can give you.

I know how desperate the CP can make us. We'll try just about anything to relieve the constant pain. I do think that much depends on the source of your pain.  It's worth a try and I hope sincerely that it works for you.

Please let us know your thoughts on the effectiveness of this product. I'll be thinking of you and watching for your review!

Best of Luck,
~Tuck
