Has anyone has an MRI with stainless steel implants?

I am scheduled for an MRI of my spine next week. I have always been told I couldn't have one, due to the amount of stainless steel implants in my back. I have two rods, and nine hooks, the entire length of my spine. I have spoken to the doctor about this, and he said they could adjust the magnetism to suit my condition. I then spoke to the radiologist, and his jaw dropped literally when he heard the amount of stainless steel in my back. He then called the dr., and the dr. still insisted. The radiologist went through a list of risks and dangers, and told me I would have to sign a waiver releasing them of liability. I'm TERRIFIED, to say the least. The dr. is not stupid, he is board certified in five areas of medicine, he is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. He is also a leading expert on MRI diagnostics and procedures, and created some of the most advanced MRI techniques in the world. However, I am still TERRIFIED. I have a lot to live for...lol. Has anyone with stainless steel, or other metal ever had an MRI, please share your experiences if you have. Thanks

I have had a couple mri's after acdf with hardware. My hardware is titanium though.I called my surgeon before the mri and was told it would be fine and not to worry about it.
They did cover the area with a lead shield before the procedure. If I was you I would ask for a 2nd opinion.
