Cancer survivors treated like junkies?

I was just curious if any other cancer survivors have noticed the drs change in attitude when you insist on getting off pain meds. I am convinced there is payola taking place and the idea you don't want your pills anymore is a foreign concept. When I told my dr I no longer want all the meds it seems he doesn't want to even help anymore. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes...I went through it . I have never abused my meds even once but had to spend sometime in the hospital recently ...I was dx with my cancer after waking from a 10 coma falling off my roof...so I am on pain meds for chronic pain as well...the hospital staff acted as if I was nothing more than a street ju lie ...I am a 47 yr old professional guy who has worked hard his entire life...the nurses would say "Well you just had those 4 hrs ago " or " the Dr on staff said you need to be off those " ...this is without regard to what my Neuro team and primary has spent time and money coming up with ...the simple fact is ...they create what we become the without caring what we have to endure pull the rug out from underneath us with no warning

That's exactly what I've experienced.  I also have cancer.  When I told pain mgmt I wanted off the drugs they were stunned.  I don't think my clinic sees many cancer people.
However...they are more than willing to help me get off of them.
