I also want to thank you for your service .I don't know much about any of the drugs you are taking I just wanted to thank you for fighting for us and let you know I am so sorry you were injured in combat . Melissa
I wanted to start by saying Thank you for your service. I'm sorry you were wounded in combat.
The methadone is a pretty continuous pain med as well, no euphoria very little ups and downs. The fentanyl is very much the same. I think fentanyl works better, personally, espcially every 48 hours because my biggest problem was also absorptions.
I don't know anything about Opana.
I hope the fentanyl brings you relief.
Hi pitcher,
I want to Welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and to let you know how GLAD we are that you have found this Forum. I need to be sure that you understand that there are NO Doctors on this Forum. We are ALL CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other thru our own Expertise and Experiences that we have accumulated thru our own private Pain Battles.
Skmedlin is correct in that you SHOULD get more continuous pain control thru the Fentanyl Patches than the Methadone. Your Dr. is the one that will make the decision as to what the medication equivalents are. If it isn't giving you the relief that you need then your Doctor will make the needed adjustments for you at your NEXT appointment. The Fentanyl Patches are designed to give you a CONTINUOUS flow of medication into your system WITHOUT you having to experience any of the UPS and DOWNS that you get from the pills. There will ALSO not be any of the feelings of Euphoria that you get from the other Opiods. I've been on the Fentanyl Patches for over 6 months now and I LOVE them as it gives me an EVEN amount of relief consistently for the extent of the Patch.
I actually change MY patches every 48 hours as the I have absorptions problems and mine don't last the full 72 hrs. Therefore, my PM (Pain Management) Doctor changed my Script from the 72 hrs. to 48 hrs. Some people's insurance won't allow them to d othat but I was fortunate.
I wish you the VERY best and I hope that you will keep us updated as to how you like the Patches.....Sherry
My experience with Fentanyl has been excellent, but I'm not familiar with either methadone or opana, personally.
The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.
