Hi Amy,
I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are very glad that you have found our Forum. There are NO Doctors on this Forum only CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with their own experiences and expertise that they share with each other.
I'm sorry that you have been experiencing this terrible and constant cough. Have you checked with your Doctor? Is there a chance that you have had Bronchitis? Or definitely some sort of severe cough?
You must remember that we are NOT DOCTORS!! It sounds to me that possibly your cough has caused the soreness in your rib cage. A bed cough can certainly do this. I know because I have Chronic Bronchitis. My rib cage is VERY sore and tender after I've had a bad bout with it.
I hope that you WILL check with your Dr. if you haven't already done so.
I hope that you will keep us updated on your condition as we are VERY concerned about how you are doing....Sherry
Hi Amy: I would like to welcome you to our community as well. Sherry as usual is absolutely correct. You need to see a doctor about this. Please let us know how you're doing.

Well I have been to doctors he says it seems as though I have torn the tendons between my ribs he also said I could have fractured one but if I have there is nothing he can do aboout it but either way he says it will take 6-8 weeks to heal
Hi Amy,
I'm SOOO glad that you went to your Dr. I'm also glad (even tho this is VERY painful) that this is something that will heal and eventually go away.
I know it's going to be VERY sore for the next few weeks. Did he suggest WRAPPING your ribs to keep them stable? I had a bruised rib once and that's what my Dr. had me do and it REALLY helped me. I wrapped and it helped me a lot.
Please keep us posted and let us know how you are doing!!
We're thinking of you and are here for you if you just want to vent about how painful or how UNpainful it is..:( Best of Luck....Sherry
