Different size ankles

6 years ago i complained about my ankle hurting from cheer,we went to the doctor, got X-rays and an MRI, was told that there was a soft/weak spot on my ankle and was told i couldn't do ANY physical activity and that they had to watch my ankle to make sure it didn't turn to cancer. About 2 weeks in I noticed my right ankle was considerably smaller than the left one, we told the doctor and they said it was part of the soft/weak spot and it would get the same after I waited for it to get better. Fast forward 3-4 months they said that my ankle was better, and i could continue cheer. About 6 months ago I went to the doctor and got an X-ray and MRI and they saw something there again so they recommended me too a doctor who could tell what it really was but he didn't even look at the X-ray he just pushed on my ankle and asked me if it hurt (I said yes) and told me there was nothing wrong. Now to this day my ankle still hurts and my right ankle isn't getting better and it still smaller and is I think getting smaller and it is starting to hurt again.

Hello and a tardy Welcome! I hope you are still monitoring this site.

Grreatful is correct. You need to get a second opinion. Six years with ankle issues is a long time to wait for healing! At the least you should have a repeat MRI!

There are physicians that specialize in ankles. I'd consult one of those specialists. You can use your search engine to locate one in your area.

Please let us know how you are doing. I'll look forward to your updates!

Best of Luck,
~Tuck

Get another opinion if your insurance pays for such things, and if the next doctor says there's nothing wrong, maybe ask your primary care doctor to send you to physical therapy.  Maybe they can help build your muscles back up to the level you need so you can again begin the sport you loved so much.  I hope some of what I said helps a little. I hope it works out for you.
