HYDROCODONE

omg i am on Hydrocodone and when the doctor take a urine sample and test for it. It never  passes the test though I take 3 times a day every day and have for years for cronic pain for osteo arthuritis.  I am soooo upset I just went to the dr this morning as she has me return every three months for my refill prescriptions. She hasn't done an urine for months until today.  She said she is going to take me off this because doesn't believe I am taking it. If I was it would show up in the urine.  I told her I didn't know why it didn't because I faithfully take it and have always took it 3 times a day as prescribed.  She just doesn't beliieve me that I am in pain and that I am taking not selling it. I told her I would go to the hospital daily and have a medical professional watch me take it each time and could document it to prove it to her. She asked why I was so upset if I was taking it. I said I was because she was so wrong and calliing me a liar. She will not do further testing and said if you don't agree with my decision then you can get someone else because I can no longer treat you with this medicine.  I can't express how upsetting this is.  Has anyone experienced this and got another doctor that would truely listen to them about their pain and needing the medicine?  I never would do what she has accused me of because I have so much pain from my condition that the pain med helps at least a little.

She told me if I didn't like her taking the medicines away from me just get another doctor.  So I am. If your doctor doesn't believe you there is no sense of continueing to see her. Do you agree?

I understand exactly how you feel.  This has happened to me twice and I always take my pills three times a day.  I have a quick metabolisum and any medicine I take goes through my body quickly.  I hadn't took my medicine since the night before each time. She doesn't listen to me ever just makes acqusations.  She doesn't think that I am in as much pain every day because I keep going anyway but it has got so much worse in the past few months. She has never followed up on my condition with any test.  I am going to make an appointment with a specialist and another doctor.  This devistates me because I don't know why my urine didn't show anything but I do know I took my meds as prescribed.  To be falsely accused of this is so very upsetting.

Thank you for your reply. so you are not on anything now?  My shoulders, elbows and my joints in my hands are so painful I can hang on to anything. I have a high tolerance of pain, but this is taking over my day for sure. Do you see a specialist?

Do what i now do. Buy a store bought drug test kit (make sure it's the instant read type), and bring it with you each appointment. If your test comes up negative, offer to take your test then and there! Make sure it's still sealed, and let them inspect it beforehand, etc. My docotr even knows i do this and has offered to honor my test if it happens again! This only works if your doctor uses the instant read test cups, not the regular sterile specimen cups that get sent to a lab. If a doctor wants to get rid of you for any reason, they have "a one size fits all solution" -- all they have to do is say you had a negative urine sample-and poof-your dismissed (this might be a problem patient, or a patient that isn't paying office bills and/or copay's-any reason!).!

I have been prescribed 32 mg of Suboxone daily since 2008. I see my pain Dr once a month and at each visit I roll dice, if I roll doubles I have to take a urine test. There was a month I rolled doubles, I took the test and the test came back negative for for anything. I was accused of the same thing, I do not know what happened but I have not stopped the Suboxone. I had to submit to a urine test every month for 6 months because of that one test. Of course every test came back positive, the bad thing is my physician questions me now and that really ***** because I didn't do a single thing.

My friend went through the EXACT same thing. When she switched doctors her Ua's began showing up normally. I'm not sure why this sometimes happens but doctors are only human and as humans we all make mistakes

I suffer from the same condition you do I have ostioarthritis and I know the pain and suffering you are talking about, after 6 years of me taking Vicodin my doctor weened me to 2 Vicodin a day for 2 months and then put me on 50mg Tramadol, laws are changing regarding vicodin and how doctors are allowed to prescribe this medication. Maybe your doctor has other reasons and is not being honest with you, I don't feel I was treated fairly and after two weeks not sleeping well from the Tramadol I have decided to CT it I feel like hell but I also want my freedom from the drugs, I understand its the pain or the meds but its gets to be disturbing when your doctor makes these changes you tend to feel the doctor don't entirely think your in pain. Good luck to you.
