Had a vehicular accident on Feb.22 and now has "left pelvic hip joint/bone fracture/cracked and body pains.

I or we just had a vehicular accident by a passenger jeepny utility vehicle. It lost its brake waying down the road so the driver manages to bump it on a electric post. With that, it was a very strong impact so the passengers collided/stamped inside. Most of us were hurt so badly. We were all brought to a public general hospital. In my case, the xray showed that i have a bone cracked/fracture on my left hip pelvic joint. Wih that, i cant walk and cant even moved my leftfoot and was so painful. Sadly, the doctor (just new practicing doctor)said that i can go home and just need a "BEDREST"? Was that right? He just prescribed 5capsule 140mg Diclofenac cholestyramine once a day. NO ANTIBIOTIC GIVEN so I was wondering.

Because it was still hot / i maybe shocked, my attention was focused only the excruciating pain in my hip and left foot. After a day/two, i noticed & feel additional pains around my back, ribs,& shoulders and i just found out i've got greenish/bluish marks on them. Hence i cant hardly walk and we had a bit 250meters wlking distance to reach the highway, i cant go back to a hospital/clinic... With this may i ask your help or advises regarding my condition please? We DONT HAVE 911 HERE. OUR public doctors not even good. Private clinics too expensive.

I am also thinking that infection might occur hence the Dr did'nt give me antibiotic. I only have CEFALEXIN available at home, can I use this as my antibiotic? PLEASE HELP, thanks....

where do you live? just curious

a pelvic bone fracture takes about 6-8 weeks to get better. for a while it sugested to use a walker, to take some weight of your legs.

the bruses will go away in a few weeks

clear sign of infection is a high fever. plus its unlikely for you to develop an infection, unless you have cuts and you were bleeding, or had internal bleeding, but if you did they wouldnt let you out of the hospital.

give it at least 2 months to feel better.

good luck

Bruises will start out black and blue then start healing and turn greenish yellow. They do take time to heal, some maybe 4 weeks.  Infection in the body is more likely if you have broken skin and it is red, swollen, hot to the touch and the reddish color is spreading quite fast.(changes within an hour is severe) Any fever? If you can get some EBSON SALTS from any drug store or K-Mart  etc. It will make everything feel better soaking in EB in a hot bath. Several times or as needed.  But don't get in or out of the tub if you do not have some help with that! Bed rest is good for a few days but walking is even best soon after surgeries or else you get too stiff, bed soar, lose muscle tone and get depressed. Walk on firm, flat even surfaces only for like 5 to 10 minutes every hour or two.   (a walker would be perfect, if you have a HOSPICE or SALVATION ARMY you can borrow one or get one for less than $10.00) Call the Hospital for more help if you feel you are getting worse.  The name of the doctor who took care of you should be on your RX bottle or the release papers.  Hope that you feel better and call a friend to come and help you with the TUB or getting stuff at the store.  Don't be alone.  O.K.
