How Long

I have been on the Fentanyl Patch 100 for about 6 months for back pain. I recently was turned down by my insurance for this drug. As it is $300 for the scrip, I cannot afford them. I have been off of them a little over a week and the withdrawal is horrendous. I never even knew I would have withdrawal, although I may be being really naive. Anyway...how long do these symptoms last? The worst is restless leg, but the runny nose and severe pain in my back and elsewhere is pretty bad, too. I feel like I can't stand it another minute.

Hi Bobh.. Thank you. I'm glad my advice can help you.. The anxiety you feel can also be helped with Valerian Root this is also Natural but you may want to speak with a pharmacist if you are taking other drugs before use. it works like a Valium just helping to take the edge off.. also walking as much as you can if you can even if you have to force yourself. this helps the feel good endorphins to start to produce in your brain again as the opiates have taken over this job.. exercising and baths are probably the most helpful.. I wish you well and Hope you feel better once you even out.. for many after a couple of months off they find the original pain less... I wish you well.. lesa

Your doctor should've tapered you or given you a different long- acting med & taper from that. What's the plan for your pain?  I agree w/the post before mine.   Lots of drinks, food if you can tolerate it.  The hot tub with Epsom will  help.  Try some Imodium.  It not only helps with the stomach issues but it helps tons with other withdrawal symptoms too.  I tapered from Fentnyl & other things & went too quickly & was very ill.

If there are, you  could contact them to see if they have coupons to use.   Fentsnil is one of the really difficult ones to get off.

Hi Nanamarla.. Welcome to the forum. I'm very sorry to read you are going thru this. I do not understand why your Dr, did not offer you comfort meds while your going thru wd... Fentanyl is one of the strongest meds and one of the hardest to get off of.. You have been off a week so you do not have much longer I know you have no energy but if you could force yourself into a warm bath a few times a day this will help a lot with the ache in your back and the rls They sell a med at (walmart) called hylands restfull leg it helps tremendously with rls.. It is quinine.. if you put Epson salt in a warm bath water and relax in it, it forces magnesium into your muscles also helping with the aches and rls..  you need to try to drink as much as you can a sports drink would be best to help balance your electrolytes. you really do not want to become dehydrated it makes you feel even worse if that is possible.. and food, try try to eat even if it is ensure ok you need nutrition and the vitamins . I know sleep has been near impossible this will regulate in time but for now not so much you could try melatonin, this is a natural product our brain produces anyway it has helped some.. I hope these tips help.. You should be feeling better in the next week at least enough to notice. I also hope you find a solution to the pain you deal with.. lesa
