I need help!!

Now my doctor prescribed me 90 Hydrocodone 10-325's 1-3 a day for 30 days, I took more than I should because I was hurting more on some days.. Anyways, I am a week short (I still have 4 pills left) and my mom has Hydrocodone 5-500, I have been taking those once and maybe twice a day. Now I have a urine test on the 19th (It is the 12th now) and I am supposed to run out the 17th, If I take the Norco the 16th and the 17th will they be able to tell what I was doing? This is my second month on Norco, and before that I was on Vicodin, and so on and so on. I have to drive 4 hours to go to the doctor so she knows my situation with me hurting more at some times but I know she would cut me off if she knew, I am not a drug seeker I actually really hate taking Narcotics but nothing else has helped me with pain, So I cannot lose this.

I need help!

Man, that *****. A couple things I would suggest would be to get her to order an MRI of your knee. Then I would schedule the test at a public hospital, most of those have programs for services for people who don't have insurance and depending on your income, it could be free. All you have to do is call the billing office of the hospital and ask them for the application. Some of them will give you the application after they send the bill, but its worth a shot.

Is your doctor a PCP or an Ortho? Can you apply for state assistance for medicaid insurance? Call anyway, even if you don't think you qualify, you never know. It definitely sounds like somethings going on in your knee. Did she offer a steroid injection? That may help as well. Good luck to you.

Well, I was in a bad car accident where my knee went through the dash, yes through the dash, I also shattered the air vent (2000 Mustang, I was the passenger). The ER doctor didn't do much for me except give me a brace, ice an hour later, and a couple Vicodin. They seemed like they had better things to do then look at me, I got an xray, he didn't really explain much.. So I went to my doctor and she wouldn't really do much except a xray and found I have a lot of "water on the knee" but couldn't find anything else so she stopped caring for awhile. My knee is still swollen from the accident 2 years ago. About 6 months after the car accident she had me go to physical therapy because i kept complaining that it's still hurting me. So I did that for 3 months total and that didn't really help me. I tried everything, OTC meds, stretching, walking, pain patches, I wore a brace during the physical therapy and 6 months after that didn't help. Everything was literally wearing me out physically and mentally. I have on a scale 1-10 about a 6 everyday, those are my good days now. for 2 years I have had pain everyday. Finally about 3 months ago maybe 4 she finally realizes that something must be wrong with my knee but unfortunately I do not have insurance so until I do she is going to stick a scope in my knee and poke around. So until then she started me on Medication.

What are your pain issues? remember, there are additional ways to help control pain, not just narcotics. If you share more of your story, we might be able to give you better advice if pain relief is really what your looking for.

Yes we both have Hydrocodone just different amounts. And I started up from Tramadol, Tylenol #3, Hydrocodone 5-500, 10-325. So I am nervous to say that its not working because I don't want her to think I am a drug seeker. I am young as well. She told me to take 1-3 and I'm taking two Vicodin so its the same as 1 Norco, I can always say if she asked about Tylenol being so high can I just say I took extra tylenol?

You should be safe by the 19th as the Norco you are prescribed is stronger than your mom's Vicodin.  These both contain hydrocodone; the only difference is that Norco has less acetaminophen than Vicodin (325mg vs 500 in Vicodin).  Also, the Vicodin your mom has contains less hydrocodone than the Norco you are prescribed, and the half-life of hydrocodone is a maximum of 6 hours which means the levels of the extra Norco you took should be out of your system by the time you have your urine test, so I wouldn't worry this time about being "caught" taking extra pills this time.

But I agree with silverfox67.  You should tell your doctor the next time you see her that you get breakthrough pain that the Norco doesn't handle.  Tell her how often and how bad the pain gets during these breakthrough periods, and she may be able to give you something for it that may not have to be narcotic.

Cut back on the amount of hydrocodone you have been taking now.  if you cut your Mom's pills in half, it should bring the levels back down before your urine test.  But, don't do this again or you will "pay the piper".   Hydrocodone is a controlled substance.   You should have contacted your doctor when the meds you were taking weren't controlling the pain.  He/she could've upped your dose and you wouldn't have this problem.  Is "Norco" hydocodone... your post was a bit confusing.
