Ibuprofen & Spinal Injections...

I have a scheduled spinal injection tomorrow and I blew it by taking ibuprofen over the weekend, this morning in fact. What are the risks if I went ahead and still had the injection?

I'm not typically a bleeder...

I just saw that you posted!!!!  You have been SOOOOO missed Mama Sherry!  You and your family are always in my prayers.  How are you?  How's your pain?  Are you still in Arizona?  Lots of changes here.  Michael and I are no longer together ... long and complicated.  My dad took a couple of falls and just came home from rehab last Friday.  He's much more frail than he was, and it really hurts to see him like this.  He uses a walker now but I can see he's very nervous with himself.  My kids are okay, though we've had a bad run with them catching everything there is.  Olivia is home on spring break.  I love having her home.  I've had a bit of relief with my nerve pain.  I wrote some posts back in January when they tried me on a new narcotic called Nucynta.  I had extreme side effects (to the point I really thought there was something seriously wrong going on) but it did help with the pain.  The pain management NP thinks that maybe somehow the sympathetic nerve got reset when I had all the side effects.  But it's been wonderful to have at least relief of the nerve pain.  I still have some pain and I'm still taking a small dose of oxycodone but I'm off all the long-acting meds.

I hope everything is okay with you and your family.  You really do mean so much to me Sherry!!!

Lots of love,

Mary

I'm so sorry to hear of the pain that you are in. Back pain is terrible and I know exactly what you are feeling.

You need to call your Doctor right now and let him/her know what has happened as it wouldn't be fair to them or to you if they should hit a bleeder tomorrow.  Of course, you can always lie but it's not going to be beneficial to you to do that.

I'm on Plavix and aspirin and Celebrex and I have to stay off of the Plavix for a week before and the other 2 meds 24 hours before. They might still allow you to have the spinal injection tomorrow depending on how many you have taken and how long you were supposed to be off of them before the injections.

How long did they tell you to stay off of the ibuprofen before the injections?

I wish you the very best and hope that you will get the relief that you deserve from your injections.

Good Luck and please let us know what happens and how you are doing after the injections.

Best wishes.......Sherry  :)
