thanks!!
i'm only 21, so i didn't think it would be arthritis?
Hello Tttyner,
welcome to the pain management Forum of Medhelp. I am sorry to hear about your knee pain. "Bad" knees runs heavy in my family. I know how painful they can be. I have been lucky enough to avoid them.
There are so many different reasons that could be the cause of your knee pain. Arthritis, Ligament issues, Cartilage or Meniscus tears, Chondromalacia Patella (knee cap) Bursitis and the list goes on. I don't know your age but my first guess would be arthritis, especially because of the way you describe it. Often when arthritis begins it will be after you rest an fairly active knee. And yes you can have it in just one knee. But there are so many conditions it could be, maybe a bursitis, that you really should be seen by your PCP. A simple x-ray can rule out arthritis.
I would try some NSAID's routinely for awhile along with some warm moist compresses to see if it has an effect on your pain. That is of course if NSAID's are not contraindicated, I wish you the best and please let us know how you are doing. I will look forward to your next post. Take Care, Tuck
