Hello Dottie,
Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am sorry to hear about your painful leg and that you have no diagnosis.
You do not provide a lot of background. Do you have diabetes? As Opus said diabetic neuropathy can cause your symptoms. However you don't have to have diabetes to have those symptoms. Ppl can also suffer from PAD, Peripheral Artery disease .It is a common circulatory problem in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to your limbs. This can cause pain in your lower limbs.
Spinal structure issues can also cause leg pains but usually it is not bilateral however it is not impossible. There are so many conditions that could be at the route of your pain that it is impossible to make an educated guess.
What I do suggest is to locate a physician that cares and is empathic and committed to finding the reason behind your pain. I went years without a diagnosis and I know how frustrating that can be. Be assertive and insist on answers. You are your own best advocate. Most conditions respond best when caught early. Unfortunately mine when past that stage and now there are no effective treatments. Please don't let that happen to you.
I beleive that physicians connected to a large teaching hospital are often more intent on finding a diagnosis, especially in instances where a diagnosis has been elusive. I encourage you to select one and make an appointment.
I hope that you will keep us updated. Please feel free to respond to other posts in our community. We will look forward to hearing from you often.
Take Care,
~Tuck
hi Dottie, do you have degenerative disk disease or osteoarthris of the spine?
both of these as well as other conditions can cause a pinched nerve in the spine that will radiate pain down one or both legs....it can be worse when sitting or standing especially if for prolonged periods.
Diabetes can also cause diabetic neuropathy and lead to alot of leg pain.
I hope this helps alittle, you need to question you're doctor and demand some answers.
good luck
