Living with Endometriosis!!!

I have endometriosis. My stomach and my back are constantly hurting. I can't sleep through the night, and simple daily activities like walking are difficult. I have an IUD (the Mirena), and I would never suggest this product to anyone. Yes, it helped a lot at first, but now it's a nightmare even to get it removed. I have just realized if I would have stayed on the pill I wouldn't be wasting so much time, energy, and money. I might be getting it removed on the 18th. FINGERS CROSSED! My doctor prescribed me naproxen for the pain. I tried to explain to him it's just not enough. I had been prescribed hydrocodone since the 7th grade and taken it until I was a senior in high school. After I had my laparoscopy I felt so much better, but now the pain is back and it's even worse. I'm not sure what to do...Help?

I've already been told all of the endometriosis cannot be removed unless I'm okay with major risks like paralysis or even death. So I know they will never be able to remove it all. It's on my bowels and femoral artery. The worst part is the pain. I've been told I'm even imagining the pain. Other people I know with similar conditions have also been told they are imagining pain. Why are doctors telling us the pain is imaginary. Is it some kind of conspiracy or do they actually believe we imagine it? And is this why it's so hard to get a prescription that works? I lose sooo much sleep over all of this. I wake up every hour and toss and turn. Some days I can't walk I hurt so bad. How do I discuss this with a doctor that thinks I'm imagining the pain??

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I understand! Its tough to live with endometriosis. Analogues of gonadotrophin releasing hormones, progestins, oral contraceptive pills, Danazol etc are used for treatment. So, if you are having the IUD removed, you could ask your doctor to start you on any of these or a combination of that. These hormonal drugs along with painkiller will help reduce the pain. Laser treatment and curettage of endometriotic tissue is can also be tried. Curettage was probably done at the laparoscopy you had. Maybe it can be tried again or endometriotic tissue shriveled up with laser. Please consult your gynecologist regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!
