I'm glad Tuck mentioned that Acetaminophen can damage the Kidneys and I want to add that it can also damage the Liver so be careful...you only have one liver and the body needs it.
Hi Ozworks,
Mollyrae and Kelly are both correct. When you take an opiate over a long period of time you risk opiate tolerance. Meaning you require more and more of the medication to be as effective as the initial dose you were prescribed.
I think you meant Oxycodone APAP instead of ADA. I haven't heard of ADA but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Correct me if I am wrong. Acetaminophen's (apap) daily limit is 4,000mg. It is wise to avoid even coming close to the limit due to the effect it can have on kidney functions. It is difficult for your kidneys to process large amounts of acetaminophen.
I hope we have been able to answer your question. If not please post again. Good luck to you. Peace, Tuck
Hello Ozworks:
Other than dependance to the drug, lond term use can lead to poor concentration or memory loss. Some Doctors believe that increased muscle & joint pain is a direct result from long term use. Also, tooth decay and aging skin have been noted in long term use of opiates. Other than that, I don't know of anything else that I have heard of.
Take care,
Mollyrae
From postings and studies that I've read, there are no long term affects from the APAP in percocet(I'm assuming that's what you're taking, correct me if I'm wrong). So long as you don't go over the 4,000 mg daily. Let me know if you have other questions.
