The skin I'm in

I guess the main reason I signed up for this is cause I'm hoping I can find some answers, maybe even some relief. I have this problem with my skin, sometimes it gets so sensitive to the touch, (fingers, clothes, chairs, blankets, etc;) it actually hurts. My wife likes to snuggle with me and I love it also, but most of the time my skin is so sensitive, I can't stand her touching me. I don't like saying anything to her, but she can tell.
Is there anyone else with this problem? Is there any hope for this condition, cures or at least a way to relieve the symptoms?
Please help me cause I'm starting to hate, "The skin I'm in".

Hello Wolfie,

Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am very sorry to hear about your painful condition. It must be extremely difficult to go about your "normal" duties and maintain a close relationship with a loved one. My heart goes out to you.

I am not a physician nor an expert of any sort but one of the first things that came to my mind is RSD.  Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) Syndrome. It is an uncommon nerve disorder. One of the primary symptoms are extreme skin sensitivity even to the point that clothing can be unbearable. It's also known as it's more recent name, Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

It's not certain what precipitates this disorder but often in occurs after an injury and sometimes a tissue disturbance....sometimes they cannot pinpoint the cause.

I am not telling you that you have RSD but I would certainly discuss that possibility with your PCP. Pain such as you are enduring reeks havoc on our lives. Please talk to your PCP and see if he/she can get to the bottom of your problem. Life is far too short to suffer needlessly with uncontrolled, undiagnosed pain.

We are here to offer our support. I sincerely hope you will keep in touch and let us know what you find out and how you are doing. I will watch with interest for your next post. Best of luck to you.

Peace,
~Tuck
