Negative urine test

I just got a letter from my doctor saying that a second consecutive urine test showed no vicodin in my urine, and that his office will no longer prescribe vicodin for me. I'm beside myself because I know I took my vicodin the day before the test. My new Rx was due the week after the test and I obviously didn't get my prescription. The only thing that I can possibly think of that is my fault is that I drink a tremendous amount of water every day, probably more than a gallon. I am on a number of other meds Effexor, Seroquel, adderall, klonopin, lisinopril, simvastatin, estradiol. provera, primidone, tizanidine, theophylline, reglan, benadryl andI was on a Z-Pack followed by Augmentin 875. What could possibly made two consecutive tests come up negative for the vicodin? They picked up the adderall and klonopin. I almost insisted on a blood test but at the last minute I did the urine test. What do I do now? I'll never convince my doctor without some kind of proof, but where do I get th proof?

These test are very unpredictable. They are Not reliable and most Doctors know this. If the cut off level in the test you took is really high then you had a small amount of medication in your system then it just did not show up. I have an article in my journal that explains all this and the 13 drugs that will cause your test to be a false negative/positive.
I am so sorry this happened to you. you can get a hair shaft test and it will show everything you took within 90 days. If the Doctor will accept it great if not you have proof for another Doctor that you were taking your medications. You can get them online or at a lab.
Here is link to my journals I have a few dealing with this problem.

An easy way to validate this theory:  Was the test a "FLush" (old technology, maybe not applicable) OR what was the level of all this other stuff that I'm taking?  Low?  Non existent?  Good Luck.

Hey Zig,

You say that you drink LOT's of water?  That will do it.  Discuss this with your Dr!  In another life I was clean, got tested and because of the volume of beer that I had consumed the night prior, the test came out as a "Flush" and considered negative.  I was threatened with being sent back to Jail!  I'm confident that this is what is happening with you.

Did you check to see if it was possible that your meds are masking each other?

Or ask your doctor to prescribe you something else.  I used to take vicodin for migraines..although I have to take it low doses as I am sensitive to narc.   However, I recently had surgery and did not appreciate the percocet (sp?) they gave me.  I did got more relief from I forget the name but it was a high dose anti inflamatory.  I know its perscription but it gave me relief for 8-11 hours at a time.  And this was while I still had the drainage tubes, etc still in.  Maybe your doctor would be willing to at least try that?

They are for blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma, bipolar disorder and add, allergies tremors, a blown disc in my neck and the vicodin is for the unrelenting joint pain since I had the human parvovirus several months ago. My bones feel like they are crunching together. Both knees, both hips and both shoulders are involved.

First question- what are all those for?  And what is the vicodin for?

Please tell me you don't take all of those in a day?  Some of those have serious bad mojo if/when you mix them.

I have no advice on this but it's something I worry about.  I've read about it over and over and it seems to happen fairly often.  My contract states they can test but they only did it once, the day I signed the contract.

I'm sure someone that's experienced this will have some advice for you.
