Neurosurgeon prescribe pain meds?

Prime Doc on vacation
So the other day I call my primary doctor's office to make appt for myself to go see him for pain meds, but the nurse told me that he's on vacation and won't be back until the beginning of February.. so I'm just suffering in neurofibromatosis type 1 pain (can't sleep or stay asleep).
I have appt with my neurosurgeon doctor on Jan 15 (next week).
so the question is that.
Can I ask him for pain instead? Will he prescribe be pain meds or will he make me wait until my prime doc comes back from his vacation?

Thank You

I agree, it shouldn't be a problem. But if he does give you a prescription, just make sure you let your regular doctor know when he gets back, just to cover yourself. Good luck!
