Pain management help

My recent pain management doc. has quit. She said she was going to retire, later to find she lost her right to practice. I have had nothing but trouble finding a new doc. I would have thought my primary doc would help me out until I can find a new place to go. I have been to a couple places and some of them have refused to help me because of the meds I am on. I have been on these same meds for about 8 years now. I have had a cervical operation in 2009, ending up with 4 cadaver bones, 4 plates & 20 screws in my neck, I have had thoracic surgery in 2008, a tumor remover from my epidural column t3-t11, had a 2 level lumber fusion , in 1998 2 disc removed replaced with 4 cages L5-L5, L5-S1. Last in 2011 I had a clean up job on my lumbar , removing scar tissue and bone spurs. I am in constant chronic pain and my quality of life is terrible at this point. I am only 42 yrs old now, the first operation I was a month after my 28th b-day.  I really need help in finding a place or a doc that will help me.I live in a small town in Ohio and there isn't anywhere close, unless I want to drive 120 miles or more per round trip. With the the way the new laws are in Ohio it has every doc scared to death to help someone, if someone knows of a place or a doc is out here close to my area please let me know if you are willing to help or know where help is. I can go into further exactly where in Ohio I am and what meds i was on after I get some feedback. My old pain doc did give me a 30 day supply of meds, but never faxed my records to the places that I was referred to, so I finally got a call and was told to drive to her office and pick up my records, leaving me with 8 business days to find a new doc before i was out of meds.

Where in Ohio are you? I live in Ohio and was referred to pain mgmt. My doctor actually upped the dose my ortho doc gave me, but i was already a low dose anyway as i am in the beginning stages of treatment. Usually any new pain doctor is going to want to start at the beginning. Sometimes a "holiday" from your pain meds can actually help you in the long run even though its torture in the short term.

Hi so very sorry to hear this info
The same happened to my husband however he was not given any notice at all, he showed up for an appt and there was no doctor
I got on the computer and started searching for pain doctors and thank God I found one
You could try same only look for pain doctors that prescribe opoids or find doctors listed as anesthetist
Unfortunately most regular doctors can not prescribe the kind of pain meds you are talking about without having a license in pain management or they lose their license which I believe that you previous doctor had happen.  I would go to her office and tell who ever is there  your predicament to see if they know of any doctors willing to help you.
I wish you the best, I know how it is.  Even when my husband lost his doctor the new doctor would not give him the same level of pain meds so he spent two months in withdrawal.
Again wishing you the best.  You might have to go out of state.  I know of people who have to drive many hours to get to a doctor who will help them
D
If none in Ohio, look at surrounding states
