So I'm doing good with this . I have fallen off the wagon. I got my meds refilled but I'm not taking more then I am supposed to. I try and tell myself that's a good thing but fact still remains  my body and mind are dependent on them. What am I suppose to do for the pain when I come completely off of them ? The reason I got them in the first place was because of a knee injury my doctor gave them to me. Now that I see they have become a problem I wont to stop. I don't like the fact that  this has control of mean some scene. I did slow down on them to only 1 a day instead of 6-7 when I did the pain was there to remind me. So what do yall suggest?

I have been taking them for about four years now. I did get to a point where I was taking more then I was suppose to. that is when I realized something needed to change> so I started lowering my dose. I got down to only one a day but my stomach started to hurt so when I got my meds. refilled I started taking less then I was supposed to only 3 a day I can have up to 4 day. The reason I get them is for a knee injury. The Doctor called it a Athletic Injury. I did try therapy but it didn't help because I have a small bone that just floats around and no cartilage. I need to have surgery . The reason I haven't done it already is because I just now got insurance and because it is a pre existing condition I have to wait 6 months in order for it to be covered .

Sometimes pain medications can increase pain.  It's called hyperalgesia.  If you come off the pain meds, you may have increased pain but after some time you'll be able to see what your real pain level is at.  If you're taking more than what you're prescribed, you're heading for trouble.  What's the injury to your knee and have youndone anything oyher than pain meds? Like physical therapy, surgery?
