PART-D INSURANCE IS CANCELLING THE COMPLETE PART , for "some" PLANS

Hi community, this weekened I got a letter in the mail that brought me to my knees!!!  It said that the COMPLETE part of my PART-D -PLAN as of JANUARY1st will NO longer EXIST. I pay extra for this plan, because it pays for  most all GENERIC MEDICATIONS that I desperately need even when I go into the doenutt hole. Thats why I pay more for it. I am in such  bad health that I have to have atleast all my GENERICS though out the entire year. Now they are saying everyone in my particular part-d-plan  has the option to go back to the PLUS part.  But the PLUS part ONLY COVERS $2,840 a year THATS IT!! I am on medications that I DESPERATELY NEED.  It has taken me 4 years to climb out of this hell hold , and now that I some what have my life back I get this TERRIBLE letter in the mail that will EFFECT a lot of people that are on "some" or "most" paticular part-D PLANS. "The PATCH has gave me back my life to a certain degree". It's almost like my Insurance CO. is forcing me to go on methadone just because its CHEAP. I take medications that don,t mix well with methadone. I want to stay on my patches as they have worked well for a year now.                                                                                                                                                                                                 My insurance co. can not refer me to another part-D, INS. CO. because they are in compitition with each other. As it stands I have 3 more months of full generic coverage. Then as of JAN. 1st. I will no longer be able to afford my patches . I don't even know if there is another part-d INS CO. that offers the plan I currently have. I am so SAD this morning. So deppressed. I asked them WHY, WHY are you doing this to US??  They said its Financial Preparations because of NEW HEALTH CARE BILL . So Before I have to do extensive research on possible going to another INS. CO. all together I would like to kindly ask. Has anyone else got a letter like this?? What should I do??  I'm taking any opinions.  The worst part is my Doctor does't even know yet. My Doctor was so happy for me that I he finally was able to give me some good pain control. NOW THIS???:

I'm sorry to hear about that as well!  I am facing problems getting my meds simply because I live in the state of FL.  As Jaybay said, I'm so OVER being dependent on opiates, too.
I hope there is some way for you to continue to get your meds, Pain.  No one should have to suffer because we can't afford medication.  This healthcare bill has had a lot of little "extra" repercussions affecting people who are not well-enough to march on Washington.  Simply ridiculous

United Healthcare through AARP might be worth looking into. I've heard of others who have got this kind of notice and were able to get the AARP/UHC supplements.

I'm really sorry about your situation.  I've been hearing this change has been coming for quite some time as it's part of the Obamacare legislation.  It's not your insurance company's decision.  They only adminster the Medicare program, which means they have to follow federal rules and regulations.  Any other insurance company will tell you the same thing.  The only thing you can do (assuming you can afford it) is get a supplemental plan through someone like AARP.  Run some numbers and see which is more costly: a supplemental policy or paying out-of-pocket for the meds.  Also check with different patch manufacturers.  All pharmaceutical companies have programs for low-income people to obtain the meds they need.  It's worth some research anyway.

I totally understand your panic. I'm in the same spot having lost insurance coverage.  We managed to find someone to insure us for catastrophic coverage, so it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.  I am so OVER being dependent on opiates.  Pain or no pain, I'm done.  Halfway there and hoping the rest of the way won't be too unbearable.  You sure aren't alone.  :-)
