Pain Patch Question

Hello, my doctor just recently put me on the 50mcg Mylan pain patch and I was curious if anyone has any experience with wearing one of these and exercising enough to where you sweat and raise body temperature? Is it safe to still do activities where you will sweat, or is that dangerous while wearing the patch? I did ask the pharmacist and he looked it up and only found that you shouldnt heat the actual patch up itself.....but it didnt say much about the strenuous activity part. If anyone has any input regarding it, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

Hi Ryder,

Your pharmacist is correct. According to the literature that I have read your body temperature has to reach 104 before it effects the release of the medication. I did notice at night when I was covered and warm and placed it on my shoulder blade (which I rest on) it seemed to release (or at least absorb) more of the medication. I certainly didn't reach close to 104 body temperature.

So as stated above I would not do anything different until I became accustomed to the patch. If your pharmacist and the literature is correct you should not have a problem once you know how your body will react normally.

Good luck to you,
Tuck

Don't do anything different until you know how you are going to react to the patch. This is the case with any pain medication.  Give yourself a few days to see how your body reacts to it.  To make sure you aren't allergic or that it's not too much medication.  If you over do it by working out and happen to pass out they won't know if it was from the patch or exercise. So take it easy for a bit.  If you have a patch for pain you should be any way.

I think the medication guide says not to use the patch if you have an elevated tempature.I dont think you will have a problem with "working out" but sweating makes my patches come loose.
