Has anyone had experience with OTC lidocaine patches and TENS units?

Hi - I'm having severe hip pain from advanced osteoporosis. No matter how many foam cushions I use, my hips and entire pelvic girdle hurt like crazy. A couple nights ago my left hip started hurting so bad, all I could do was moan. I'm tapering off my narcotics, so that wasn't an option - plus doubt they would help.

I tried Voltaren Gel, but had no relief. My insurance won't cover the Rx lidocaine patches, but OTC ones are 4% (Rx 5%), so not much difference.

Before I invest, I thought I'd ask if anyone had found relief with them, or anything else, like the OTC tens units. My last bone density was frightening. I now have a T score of -4 with average of -3.9. I'm ready to crumble!

Mine is the Otc one and yea I don't feel much hope but all i can do is pray.

I have a tens unit I haven't gotten any relief from it but that's not to say you wouldn't mine as well give it a shot!

Thanks for answering. I'm sorry you aren't being helped. I used one years ago when they first came out - (decades ago), but was hoping the new ones might be better.

Is yours otc? Or a Rx one? I hope you get some relief from some therapy - pharmaceutical or other. Blessings!
