Real cortisone damage to soft tissue after Facet Joint Injections?

Hello,

I had a Facet joint injection about 6 weeks ago on 3 levels of my lumbar back.
It worked really well and the pain decreased drastically, but now the pain is slowly coming back a bit.
Since my insurance is running out next month i wanted to get in to the pain clinic for another set of Facet joint injections. Therefore I would have another one just over 2 months after the first set.

I have been reading that cortison can cause damage or degeneration to the joint, tendons, and even bone structure around. So I am worried about these statements and would like to know if there are any studies or someone who knows that I could be doing more harm than good. After all this is just a temporary pain relief strategy and the damage will last forever and may aggravate my pain in the short term.

Anyone has any insight on the real damage that cortison causes to the area and if I am getting this procedure too soon after the first one?

Thanks a lot!

my doctor will probably say there is no problem. He offered another one a month after the first. He wants to make money,
This is why I want to find information supporting the claim that it damages soft tissue and after how many times? is it after the 2nd injection or 3rd or 5th? or right away. ?

Anyone can show evidence of this other than a "reference"?

There are studies on it that it does cause what you mentioned after prolonged use.

If you really are concerned with having another shot, discuss it with your doctor and ask if there are other treatments you can undergo other than cortisone injections.
