Rx for chronic but intermitant low back pain

I have a herniated disk that the neurologist said would require surgery sooner or later, that was 4 years ago.Ive tried steroid injections(some relief for a little while) 800mg motrin, celebrex.660mg celebrex, norco, tramadol. Ive taken torodol,it works but i cant take it more than a couple of days.(you get the pic.) I have been going to my family DR. for 6 years. She konws me well and knows that I dont have any problems with drugs. As a matter of fact 3 yrs ago I passed a kidney stone in hospital and would go so long without a pain inj that finally the nurse told me not to wait so long b4 asking for a shot. Back to my question. The last norco Rx was for 60 taps it lasted me about 2 months, but it just doesnt really help with the pain, makes my head fuzzy but pain relief isnt much better than ibuporfen 800mg.and thats not a level of relief that I can live with.Im sure that my MD would give me anything that I asked her for even class II narcotics. Does any body  know a seriously good analgesic? How about Demerol tabs?

I meant to say that everyone is different and therefore don't respond different medications the same way.  I wish we had an "Edit" icon on here. I hate it when I post a typo and sound like an idiot. LOL

Everyone is different and therefore respond to differently to medications. It sounds as if you need a medication that will give you pain relief on a continuous basis, ie. a time released medication.

There are several that your doctor may want to try with you. Some are stronger than others but you may tolerate one better than another. I don't think Demerol would be my first choice and it is not time released anyway.

Rather than my making a suggestion on different drugs, I am going to just suggest you talk to your doctor about a time released pain medications and let her decide what would be best to prescribe to you. That is what I did when it took too many Vicodin to relieve my pain.

Good Luck
