Severe pain in thigh

I have recently (a couple months) been having severe pain in my outter thigh area on the left side.  Along with this is another strange burning sensation at times.  I am 27 female, no previous back injuries or problems. I am not overweight, never had children or been pregnant.
I have had leg pain in the past, and have had nerve conduction, and ultra sounds done on my legs, they finally decided that it is probably varicose veins.  However this thigh pain is much worse, and different.  What can I do to relieve this pain?  I have tried electric blankets, tylonol, exercise and stretching (which only makes it worse)

Hello and Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post but sorry to hear bout your painful symptoms.

Have you been back to your physician to evaluate your thigh pain? It could be related to the varicose veins.....or it could be entirely unrelated. It needs to be clinically evaluated.

"Burning" pain is usually indicative of a nerve issue. It could be a nerve entrapment or it could be a bursitis. There are just so many things that it could be that it is impossible to guess.

Before I would self treat I would want to know what it causing the pain. Heat may not be a good treatment. But again only your physician can make this determination.

I am sorry that I am not more helpful. I encourage you to seek medical advice. Please let us know how you are doing. We are always here to listen and support the best we can. I'll look forward to hearing from you again.

Take Care,
~Tuck

Thank you for your advice.  It has gotten much better now, I think it was a pinched nerve from what I read.  I took some Ibuprofen at night before I went to sleep and it eased it up enough to rest.  Seems to be gone now.
