Side effects?

I just posted the other day that my doctor prescribed me methadone 5mg twice a day. I also have Norco 5-325 for breakthrough pain. I am allowed to take two Norcos. My question is, do you guys think this is a massive jump from taking hydrocodone-containing products on a daily basis? I just tried the medication and I have a fever of 101.4, feeling completely lethargic and falling asleep performing tasks. It was so bad that I had to call my best friend to come over and help me with my two-years old son. I was falling asleep at the kitchen sink, doing dishes! I also woke up with a MASSIVE migraine that morning, But the migraine eased... however the exhaustion hasn't. Is this a normal side effect? Will it get better? I do see improvement in my fibromygalia pains and haven't hsd to use norco lately. But omg, the exhaustion! Oh, and I was vomitting all morning and all day long.

Or am I taking much too much? I know I used to be able to take eight pills of 10-325 norcos without any problems before, and that is all at once! I haven't done that since tho. I have huge tolerance, so this is taking me by surprise. I am also on humira injections for my rheumatoid arthritis.

The methadone will make you tired and this will last for a month or so until your body becomes accustomed. I tried it years ago and I could not stay awake at all no matter how hard I tried. I told my doctor that I just could not function on it and he changed it for me.
Talk to your doctor as the others have suggested you may be having an allergic reaction besides the tiredness.
I hope it works out well and you can find something else for your pain, some people just can't tolerate methadone.

Yes, please call your Dr. and let them know what is going on. Gemini is right on about it possibly being an allergic reaction. If it is it could be very dangerous.

Whenever you start a new med of any type don't hesitate to call you Dr. if you are having anything out of the ordinary happen to you. You just never know and it's always better to err on the side of caution.

Please take care and let us know what happens...Sherry

It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it.  I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it.  As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.

We most often think of an allergic reaction as being difficulty breathing or hives, but this type of reaction can be just as serious.

Give a call to your doctor and tell him the symptoms you've been experiencing - especially the fever and vomiting.

The sleepiness could be just a matter of getting used to the meds, but a good idea to mention the extrememe of it to him also.

Best of luck!

P.S.  I've heard of other members saying about having horrible headaches while on methadone.

That doesn't sound good at all.  Combining the methadone and the norco could be too much.  Maybe you should call your doctor tomorrow and let him know what's happening.  I know nothing about the Humira.  Your pharmacy could tell you about any drug interactions.

If I were you, I wouldn't take anything else until I spoke with my doctor and/or pharmacist.
