They have not tested me yet. I have been on pers for two months.
Most Pain CLinics do the testing of the Urine before you actually recveive your Medications. They want to make sure that you're on the straight and narrow before dispensing those types of drugs. Be prepared to take this Tuesday before you actually see the Doctor. Most Clinics now a days have Urine tests that will tell them what's in your system within minutes of taking the test.
Good Luck,
Molly
Short and long acting--pain medications, I assume. They may do the urine test at your next visit--but I don't know because some places test at every visit, and other PM clinics/docs do random testing.

What are they testing for?
Good to hear from you again.
I think we talked about long acting and short acting narcotics a bi ago. Long acting usually mean the medication last 8 to 12 hours in your system. Short acting is a medication that lasts 3-6 hours and is usually given for break-through pain...along with the long acting medication.
Which actual medication your PMP (pain management physician) will try you on first is unknown. But I am sure he will work with you to cover your pain 24-7. You deserve to be comfortable after all the pain you have had to endure. I think your PMP feels the same.
Pain Clinics differ on when and how they do urine drung testing. I think Sherry has had only one urine drug test in many months. My physician does not do any unless she is suspicious. Other PM Clinics test before the narcotic is ordered and then every month.
The contract that you may sign or have signed will spell all that out for you. Please read it carefully dear. Don't be afraid to ask the nurse if you if you have questions or ask the physician. Make sure you understand what you are expected to do. And please make sure you know exactly how and when you are suppose to take the long and short acting medication. It will make a difference in your urine drug tests. That is important.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask here also. We will do our best to help you. I know you talk to Sherry and if you didn't know she is in the hospital and cannot respond to your questions. She's doing fine and should be home today.
I hope we've answered your questions. If not please let us know. I wish you the very best and hope to hear from you again soon.
Take Care,
~Tuck
