Opiates are no problem. The problem with things like Vicoden ES and Perc long term is you ruin your liver, and you need more and more as time goes on and you began to function like a zombie. Schedule 2 drugs are used for cronic/severe pain such as I have had for 3 years+ now (Fentanyl patches and fentora). Although you can (most likely) get addicted to it, it's better than the zombie look---and it outweighs the pain. There are several drugs in the opiate family that work for cronic pain and you don't "lose it" like you can with vicoden, etc. Have been to the run of the mill doctors who just don't know pain management, but the pain management doc sure does. So, as I'm in my 60's could care less about addiction---haha, what, the regular doc's mouth will drop open and in that shocked look say, "OMG!! you want to take opiates--you'll get addicted" and I say, "So". If you use the drugs as you're supposed to, addiction is rare as it's the abuser who has the problems. Opiates (depending on which kind) will stop most cronic pain and is used in cancer patients. There are some drugs which have been developed that make opiates look like child's candy, but can't remember them. Fentanyl doesn't make you act out of it and I find no ill effects and it kicks pain out, but it doesn't work on a toothache---go figure.

Boy can I relate to you, I have had chronic pain for years...had three back surgeries with success but not complete pain abatement. I went the pain management route and learned what I couldn't do, At first they gave me a test to see if I was an addict, when they found out I wasn't they did the muscle relaxers and pain pills. pain got worse stronger pain pills. I was on Oxy...didn't help my chronic headaches (caused by my neck) Now I take vicoden.
Thanks for your inputs. It is hard to get a pcp to go up higher on a med as they feel you are getting addicted. Brandy do you go to a pain management dr. He recommend it but my dr has to write the order. Also mr. lucky I'm not quite sure what I will do for now, I will leave that up to the dr. Thanks for your input guys and keep your chin up both of you
The next step is usually oxycontin which is a stonger concentration of the same narcotic. If you want to take that step.
HI, I too take perocet round the clock 4 pain!! I have been taking for a few months now, & my body has gotten used to it & built up a tolerance, therefore:it doesn't work like it used too-or like it should!!!and that really sucks!!! My Dr's say that they do not give out anything any stronger at their office,so what am I to do.....But eat more percocet!!!! Best Wishes, Brandy
