Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am so sorry to hear about your pain and the physician's inability to control it. I have also read your other similar post. I am very happy that you found us and took the time to post.

I agree that the best course of action is to request a referral from one of your physicians. We cannot and do not recommend specific physicians for a variety of reasons. We do have an affiliation with the well know and respected Cleveland Clinic in the USA. However that will not help you in the UK.

So please ask your physicians or use your search engine by inserting the words like, Physicians practicing Spinal Cord Stimulator insertion, UK.  You can play around with those words until you obtain the information that you are seeking.

I am so very sorry to hear that your spinal cord is deteriorating. That fact may place you at higher risks for a SCS. Have you tried a TENS Unit? If not it may be worth a try. Between that and a change in oral medications you may experience some reduction in your pain levels. Some ppl also find pain relief with an acupuncturist. It usually takes a combination of treatments and medications to achieve some degree of pain management. I encourage you to continue to search for other possibilities, maybe re-visit some formerly utilized methods.

I know how difficult it can be to find and continue an effective form of treatment for chronic irretractable pain. I do wish you the very best and hope that you will continue to post in our community. We will look forward to hearing from you again soon. Take Care our new friend in the UK.

Peace,
~Tuck

I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that you have found this Forum. We need to let you know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum we are ALL CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that use our expertise and experience from our own pain conditions to help each other.

I'm so sorry that your PM (Pain Management) Dr. says that you have reached the end of the line with him. Can he refer you to the Hospital and Surgeon that you would need to see? I'm afraid that here on the Forum we DON'T recommend any Doctor's as one of our CL's, Tuck, has said many times, a Doctor that is right for me might not be the right fit for you. Sometimes it takes many tries to find that right fit.

You are, also, over in England and I don't know of anyone here that has connections over there. I would definitely go back and ask for your PM Doctor's help in obtaining a referral for this.

I wish you the very best and hope that you will keep us updated on your progress...Sherry

You may want to ask your PCP for a referral to a pain management clinic or a surgeon.  I would personally would have this done with the pain management doctor vs a surgeon. They are more experienced in dealing with the spine and give several injections a week.  I'm surprised they haven't offered this to you already and keep giving you the injections.  You will also need to have a psych evaluation before you have this done, everyone does.  If you are worried about kidney faliure, then it's time to have your levels checked.  Most of these medications are fairly safe, unless you are taking large amounts of tylenol or ibuprofen.  Some muscle relaxers, but not all are also a culprit for kidney failure as well.  Good luck.
